I can't remember if I ever had this 1987 #PatMetheny album on #vinyl as it's an all digital production. It actually sounds very good and is one of Pat's better Geffen era releases. Another score from Saturday's estate sale. #musicsky #music #jazzsky #jazz

I love connecting deeply with new music & am compelled to play it repeatedly. 3rd spin of Antonio Carlos Jobim's 1973 LP since scoring it at a Saturday estate sale. Gorgeous lush haunting Claus Ogerman production, reminiscent at times of Milton Nascimiento's Clube da Esquina. 1of2 #musicsky #jazzsky

Remembering Bobby Sherman - I dug into my big pink box 'o #bubblegum singles (yes, I really have a pink wooden box for them!) and found more #BobbySherman 45s than I remembered! Long post continues in comments below... 1 of ? #musicsky #music

Found another #SamCooke LP at the swap meet on Sunday in a 2-for-5 stack in pretty good condition for its age/obscurity. It is hard to find his original pre-hit records. I don't always love how Cooke was produced, but his voice and phrasing was impeccable. #musicsky #music

The soul energy I needed today. LPs by Texas' Little Joe and The Latinaires are not easy to find in any condition. This bargyn bin vinyl is messy (but the cover is nice!). This is more of a pop soul album, no Tex Mex/Latin flavors. They cover... 1of2 #musicsky #music #soul #latinsoul

It’s not enough for Stephen Miller to orchestrate Trump’s deportation agenda. Miller recently disclosed over $100K of stock in Palantir, the shady data firm ICE uses to target and round up immigrants. He’s cashing in on his own cruelty.

Healthy Snacking: Quasi #avocado "toast" on Swedish multigrain crackers with green onion, bell pepper, sun-dried tomato, zaatar, salt and pepper... #food #foodie #snacks

Bedtime For Boomer's - Last spin for the night, winding down with some bargain bin therapy: a sweet Japanese press of Ry Cooder's 1972 LP Boomer's Story. Years ago, before I was really into Ry's music, I had a US white label promo of this which... 1of2 #musicsky #music

First spin of Guns & Butter, a 3$ find at the swap meet yesterday. One off prog rock; none of the members did much after this. Musically it falls between pre-Red King Crimson (violin! sax! guitar!) and Benefit-era Jethro Tull (flute! guitar!). Wonder what happened to them? #musicsky #music

Superdudes Rule - Dig this double-dose comp scored at the local flea market Sunday: surprisingly well crafted knockoff exploitation of now-classic 1970's "Blaxploitation" film soundtrack themes. Anyone know who plays on this? Not throw-aways, someone put some care into this. #musicsky #soul

Possible bottom line: The MOP strikes were performative for Trump, and this “retaliation” is performative for Khamenei. Which may actually be the best result for the planet.

Spinning the recent Verve/Acoustic Sounds remaster of the legendary 1964 "Getz/Gilberto" LP with changed ears after hearing the new Impex SACD w/ Grundman AAA remaster & new Plangent Processes restoration. Significant improvement. My comparative listening report on eCoustics. #musicsky #jazzsky

I have trouble leaving behind clean vintage jazz at a thrift shop where it might get destroyed. For 2$ I can preserve this nice 1955 Blue Note 10-inch live Sidney Bechet LP a bit more for posterity. Actually, its a fun little set of early jazz & of course Bechet is a legend so... #musicsky #jazzsky

Record Rescue (Swap Meet Edition) - The seller this morning was thrilled when I bought this 1956 gem from him for 2$ as several others had passed on it. Well loved (ticks, pops, one skip), still super enjoyable, especially wi: the mono cartridge. #musicsky #jazzsky #music #jazz 1of2

Wild flea market find today: a 1969 promo of the lone album by obscure Buffalo NY rock 'n soul band Wilmer & The Dukes. Never had heard of or seen this but its a sweet smoker. The horn section is credited but the band members are not making me wonder if its session players. #musicsky #music 1of2

I couldn't sleep so I got up in the middle of the night to begin some food prep for a friend's gathering we are going to later today. Before going back to bed, I looked out the window and saw the crescent moon up over the East Bay as the sun begins to rise. #sunrise #moon #sanfrancisco 1of2

The Los Angeles Dodgers announced today that the organization will donate $1 million to immigrant families impacted by recent raids.

Giving another spin to the fine 1960 debut by under-the-radar vocalist Nancy Harrow. This little gem -- w/ Kenny Burrell in a band led by Buck Clayton & produced by Nat Hentoff -- is my favorite of 3 new Candid Records reissues (my listening report now on Analog Planet dot com). #musicsky #jazzsly

Earlier this week editor Mike Mettler and myself shared our tribute to the late great #SlyStone (RIP) on Analog Planet. #musicsky #music #soul #funk www.analogplanet.com/content/memo...

After enduring the stresses of my partner's health emergency a couple weeks back followed by my car meltdown enroute to helping him and then computer near crash 'n burn this week... I'm atoning playing The Sins Of Satan, a short lived soul funk band of a sort. (Cont'd) #musicsky #music #soul #funk

Today’s decision out of Rhode Island isn’t getting a lot of attention, but it’s very important. Trump tried to withhold fed’l funds from states that won’t help with his immigration policy & mass deportations. A Judge just told him he can’t do that. open.substack.com/pub/joycevan...

Random Post Of The Day : If the seller wasn't asking $500 for this, and was a lot cheaper (like 50), I might buy it on principal just because... #lions #tables #midcentury

Was reminded about this amazing recording in an unlikely place this past weekend so I had to hear it all. I wish Duke & Trane had continued working together. "In A Sentimental Mood" is gorgeous. I have the recent Acoustic Sounds stereo remaster but this is a pretty nice OG mono. #musicsky #jazzsky

First listen to Chad & Jeremy's 1968 baroque psych Lp "The Ark" sort of an alternate universe version of The Zombies' Odessey & Oracle. Digging it, more than Cabbages & Kings. Gary Usher produced w/ many Wrecking Crew greats, thus the Brian Wilson-esque moments. Bargain bin find. #musicsky #music

I am no #Polka fan but the cover on this thrift find was so epic/weird I had to get it. Many inserts including a note from original owner explaining how she came to own it: one of the twins teased her in school, but years later when selling Encyclopedias door to door... ( cont'd) #musicsky #music

5th Buddha - Some years ago I went to an estate sale selling almost entirely mid-century modern things (including old records, which is why I was there). The LPs were dissppointing, but I did find an unusual hairy #Buddha statue (large, right rear). I'd never seen one like that before. Cont'd

I scored another hard-to-find-on-vinyl #Sebadoh LP from Tunnel Records, this one in a trade. This was their only album tied to a major label and is often overlooked for some reason. I like it a whole bunch. Next: to find Harmacy on #vinyl... #musicsky #music #loubarlow

My tribute to the late maestro #BrianWilson who left us last week is on Analog Planet. #ripbrianwilson #musicsky #music www.analogplanet.com/content/reme...

Hey folks, be careful out there. I'm masking up in close crowded indoors areas again (ie. concert venues and such). Stay Safe. www.fastcompany.com/91351955/nim...
