Can't wait to see this... and yeah, this hurt never goes away... so much promise, so much loss.... grateful I got to see him once at GAMH, one of the most amazing performances I've ever seen...

I'm amazed how good this 1978-era pressing sounds as that was frequently not the case for this era of MCA Records...

Rest in Peace, Bobby. Thanks for the music and happy memories...

...a Top 5 hit which dominated radio in 1970 and is forever etched in my youth brain memory of time and place.
I just learned from the wiki that the amazing over-the-top trumpet soloing was played by Lloyd Michels, who apparently played in The Merv Griffin Show band.

So in honor of Bobby's passing, I give you a snippet of one of his biggest hits played from the cereal box! And I will go to my grave defending "Julie, Do Ya Love Me" as one of the greatest pop singles ever...

Still, I walked away with probably 50-75 rock, jazz and pop albums of note (including one of the rarest LPs I now own). Amidst this, was a pristine probably never played Bobby Sherman cereal box record which the owner had meticulously cut out and preserved in a sealed plastic baggie.

Notably, I re-discovered an EP I picked up at the LAST estate sale I went to prior to lockdown -- a FREE sale where I was the only person there for the first nearly two hours looking through thousands of mostly easy listening records they were giving away.

... James Brown, Procol Harum, The Righteous Brothers, The Rascals & even The Four Seasons. I don't usually play 1960s LPs with the Mono cartridge but its helping this sound OK (its a mono LP). Nothing to lose here, perhaps the wider stylus will smooth deeper clicks on this side? 🤪Who knows? 2of2

In general, I am fed up with the many data mining posts masquerading as innocent "memes" and faux engagemt questions... these things pop up all the time, especially in many of the Facebook enthusiast groups I participate in related to music and video and audio and such

... got purged along the way (it wasn't an especially great sounding copy, noisy vinyl). This copy is super quiet which is crucial for this music. I'm not always an instant fan of Japanese pressings but this sounds really nice. Anyone have ideas of what year this was made? Might be 1980...

Repaired seam splits from inside. One of Mr. Royal's only LPs as a leader, great band here: Oscar Pettiford, George Barnes, Osie Johnson & Billy Taylor. Never have seen this before anywhere. None in the US on Discogs or eBay. Strait ahead mid-50s swingin' bluesy set of classic covers. 2of2

Feels at times like Janis' Kosmic Blues Band. The guitarist is pretty rippin' great -- anyone know who it is? Their take on Steve Miller's "Living In The USA" gives me new appreciation for the tune with poignant lyrics which sadly still resonate today.

My new iPhone14 camera still can't capture both the moon and the cityscape in focus, but I was able to do a close-up of the moon, which I never could do on my old phones.

Seems to be pretty standard fare mid-70s early disco funky pop but run through a P-Funk-Lite filter. Not bad, but the cover is pretty epic. Found this at Tunnel Records recently in their bargyn bin.

Il like this one but agree it might have been edited down to a stronger single disc. But at that stage in their career, they didn't need to edit anything for anyone… It was for themselves.

... she came to one of their houses. They didn't buy the books, but she got the record. Musically, its well played and at times reminds me of the joyful music played on Jewish high holidays. Still, that cover will guarantee this a space in the "Cobwebs & Strange" section of the collection.

I don't know what prompted this development of these fun and funky bearish Buddhas to be created, but I'm glad they are around.
Found this at an estate sale near Palo Alto a few weeks ago...

The latest addition is real curious as he was a sake bottle! He also looks very different than the other ones, a little bit more Americanized, sort of an Ed Asner meets Tom Bosley kind of a look about him... a he's got a whole lot more hair than the others including his armpits!

My dear late friend Gary Floyd (a Buddhist) was shocked as he had never seen a hairy Buddha statue anywhere in all his studies/travels. A year or so later I found another and before you knew it I was collecting hairy Buddhas! Gary got a real kick out of it each time I found a new statue... Cont'd
