Schake’s statement is an example of what we mean when we say the “Overton window” has shifted. In 2025 it may sound “reasonable” to some, but it would be laughable to most to say staff “serve at the pleasure of the POTUS” in 2005 or even 2015. It’s still outrageous.

To state the obvious, the CJCS and all senior officers take an oath to uphold the constitution. So your statement is just factually wrong. Setting this aside, strong leaders should value competent staff that will challenge them. And I want leaders to represent interests of the people.

I’m an expert in this field and I can say EVs save taxpayer money as they cost less to operate and maintain.

Biden spent 4 years refusing to fire DeJoy. As I said before, we don’t need milk toast democrats once the MAGA fascists lose power. We need people who would fire the corrupt Courts, ban the MAGA fascist party for 80 years, and fire all people who come in government on or after January 20, 2025.

Also “fossil fuel extraction” and “DEI programming” are so broad and vague as to be meaningless. EG people across a wide political spectrum support the right to install renewables, and support teaching the history of people of color. The policy specifics matter.

Yeah I’m with you. So nuts. Could be me but seems like the media glosses over these facts and just focuses on “border crossings”. They have rights.

To be fair, he was probably ordered to do so by the worm in his brain.

They are seeking asylum and have rights under both US and international law. This is a humanitarian crime. Don’t mean to be pedantic.

I feel like someone needs to ask if the children were born in the US and thus are American citizens. But given how they are being treated, would the government ever acknowledge this? What is wrong with this country.

It’s bonkers. They obviously realize there is no one to police their conduct. Who will charge them? Certainly not the DOJ. And even if they are charged, they’ll be pardoned anyway. Such an Achilles heel in the system. There’s a word for this, can’t put my finger on it…

Just a reminder that Unions voted for Harris. I know it’s off topic but people like O’Brien feed into a false perception of union members.

I continue to believe we can be a beacon of hope to the mainstream, a symbol of defiance and refusal to bow our heads. The more the mainstream shrinks in fear the more powerful that symbolism will be when people begin to realize what they've given up.

Some day we’ll get an NYT headline such as “Military guns down scores of unarmed, peaceful protesters. Critics are raising concerns. But Republicans say they had it coming.”

Jasmine Crockett and AOC should be the face of the Democratic Party. Crushing it.

They want to arrest AOC to silence her. To send a message. That is their goal.

The US has never been great abt acknowledging past sins. Now we are seeing even more history being erased in real time. It’s so hard to restore “lost” history. Dem states *must* hold the line and stand firm against this erasure, even if it risks loss of $$. Otherwise we lose so much more.

“Bio-security & medication & so on” sums up their entire strategy real good. I now feel rest assured.
