I've always read it as being that he's saved by fear of effective damnation, in various forms. So faith, in the sense that the fear of damnation is restored and he's jolted into embracing a happier alternative.

Based on the way London seems to see these opportunities, the primary target will end up being commuters trapped into travelling into London to work

Just to point out that in Belloc's original poem, an anti-imperialist satire, the words β€œWhatever happens, we have got The Maxim gun, and they have not.” are spoken by one of the racist protagonists, who ultimately comes to a sorry end.

People talk about this widening gap between the established teams and the promoted clubs but I also think the weakness of those 3 made the gap look bigger than it is - everyone else got an easy 6 point start, of course there's a gap.

I think that was the Ipswich approach, but they had an L1 team core and it was a massive risk. Southampton were lucky to go up and Leicester were hamstrung by PSR. This year Leeds and for that matter Burnley may be different (playoff winner always has biggest challenge).

I assume all these posts are going to be framed in the Trump Presidential Library (along with the bounced cheques and a picture of a Qatari 747). No books though.

I then made the mistake of asking why it found it so difficult. It downloaded a 2 page document, started reading the entire thing out and locked the phone - I had to pull over to make it stop. I remember getting Google's first Android watch (pre Pixel) and it worked seamlessly. So what happened? 2/2

Probably had to wait for play-offs to compete to know who was available. Similar in other leagues. Suspect we're buying at the margins (low level D1 / relegated D1 / high level D2) in any league so highly dependent on season outcomes other than our own.

Everton are only ever interested in players they can get at a massive discount from distressed clubs. They still have PSR constraints. Expect them to try and raid the relegated clubs again as their first option.

Everton was a mess. cf. Maupay. I think Harrison's OK, bit of a confidence player. Pity he didn't stay but someone had managed to convince him he had a chance at international football. Kind of player Farke could probably turn around. Think he'll leave though.

Reminder that Leicester went into an unpunished administration, followed by liquidation, in 2002-2004, resulting in EFL rules changes whereby Leeds were docked a total of 25 points in 2007 for the same situation. Eventual, rather than instant, karma.
