I was hoping that headline lead to Lead the Charge scorecard! I love the work of the SIRGE Coalition www.sirgecoalition.org

Check out the Veterans for Peace Climate and Militarism Project, lots of recommended readings there in the Learn More section www.veteransforpeace.org/take-action/...

I told them “I am not happy about this, and in 5 years this is going to be illegal, but fine - go ahead.”

I sold a house recently and the gas heater needed replacing. 2 previous offers had already fallen through & everyone around me insisted I stop talking heat pumps & just swap gas for gas. The installer, the realtor, everyone, said I was being frivolous. It sucked. In the end I conceded :(

It’s quite a part of life. I don’t want a robot to do it for me.

I’m going to show that graph unprompted in some calls today. That’s my first thought, I may think of more. The chart was published this week in The Guardian. www.theguardian.com/environment/...

That bathtub is filling up! The water is getting higher! With it comes a ton of misery, loss, increased risk/frequency of spikes of disaster. That data is like a clock ticking louder and louder. It’s really bad. What are YOU going to do about it?

All in all, not a lot of surprises in this report-back. Presumably it’s colored by what McKinsey wants to help consult on. But it’s a pretty good scan of the top priorities of big global CEOs right now.

Space! “What we heard at Davos: If space isn’t part of your strategy, it needs to be.” Team Climate has multiple emissions monitoring satellites in the sky now, but sounds like there might be a lot more action up there. Just don’t mess with the moon, guys!

AI, yup, DeepSeek, yup - but one of the biggest claims here was that the cost of software development is approaching zero. Said like someone who sees technologists as cost centers, I guess. Myself, I aim for a world where people teams, tech teams, and AI come together to create value.

The top level tone of this is bordering on terrifying: the unspoken message seems to be Trump and Musk show the gloves can come off on corporate aggression. There was discussion of renewable energy & empowering teams but stakeholder capitalism was not a phrase that got used in this write-up!

Reframing, critiques of the dominant paradigm, benefits in terms of palatable values, and celebration of more liberatory values all seem essential

You can try, but the Alternative Facts crowd is feeling very emboldened right now! Facts v lies, DEI, critical thinking, and AI are a nexus of factors requiring strategy for an adversarial environment

Non-binary gender identities have been *sacred* in tons of cultures all around the world for hundreds if not thousands of years. They aren't new. They are often tied to protection of the earth and our collective interests. Trying to destroy this part of humanity is monstrous and unwise.

If THAT doesn't qualify as possibly the biggest scandal in the history of the planet earth I can't imagine WHAT could!?!?! lol

Unsurprising I suppose. While it seems evil to me, it’s zero based budgeting right? All things are zeroed out and then they see what truly hurts (them) and thus will get turned back on.

Hey hey! Nice to hear from you. No not planning to attend this year. Would love to catch up by zoom sometime though.

Thanks though. Let me know if you think there would have been a better way to say it.

Yup, that was my motivation to say creation stories plural, per the article. An intense history for sure
