In 2020, I remember sitting at my window as National Guard military vehicles rolled by. My bus trip to go get groceries featured MRAPs parked on the sidewalk and men in camo holding long guns. My friends were pepper sprayed with abandon, multiple times, as they were quietly leaving protests.
