Hmm, don't think I've ever seen a mention in the press that Kemi actually admitted undermining equalities bodies to further a weird minority cult, you'd think there might be a story there, but what do i know 🤷‍♀️

New from Evan: You might know that the New York Times took a shameful victory lap the day after the Supreme Court ruled bans on gender affirming care are not discriminatory. But what you probably don't know is that ban supporters cited NYT in their amicus briefs 29 times.

This is a horrifying ruling that shows a disdain for basic human rights principles — made all the more unconscionable by the fact that the Republican appointees did so with no reasoning and on the shadow docket.

I mean.... with no due process there's no guarantee citizens will be able to prove they're citizens so, while I'm not a lawyer, I think maybe the court just ruled they can send anyone they want anywhere they want.

I can't even grapple with the inhumanity of saying it's okay to deport people to a war zone that they're not even from

I’m in Parliament this week. And now I face this hurdle to me engaging with our democracy. It is segregation and we should not tolerate it. Let me lay out my options for when I’m there meeting an MP in a few days. To illustrate how intolerable this is.

The Supreme Court issued a stay, effectively ruling, for now, that the Constitution no longer applies, at least not to immigrants. Fast-track deportations with no opportunity for judicial review violate the fundamental principle of due process, especially for people already on U.S. soil.

The US Supreme Court rules that there is no law and there is no constitution

Ahead of the lobby of Parliament this Wednesday, the government decide to enact a toilet ban. Clearly, they are 'wanting' a confrontation www.parliament.uk/visiting/acc...

This is, for me, where the Nazi/fascist parallels work best. ‘Good’ people did nothing as the awfulness escalated because they were justifiably terrified of getting their heads kicked in or killed. It’s about comparing similar points in the process as opposed to comparing end days with early ones.

This original is even more chilling than the edited version in the Grauniad.

Jeffries: "Not a scintilla of evidence to date has been presented that I have seen to justify the notion that there was an imminent threat to the United States of America. If the administration has evidence to the contrary, come up to present it."

One of the funniest things I've seen I must say

Damn right!!!

I do find it funny in a very sad way that a load of (non-legal) people in the community told me post-FWS I was exaggerating and doom crying about what the effects of the judgment were likely to be. Well, here we are.

Wow: ICE Has Deported at Least 70 U.S. Citizens

The BBC uncritically platforms Sex Matters, misrepresents the Supreme Court ruling, and excludes trans voices entirely. This isn’t journalism, it’s bias. We've filed a complaint. The BBC must do better. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

Reading Toby Hadoke’s excellent book abt the Quatermass Experiment It’s hard not to be envious of the speed at which things moved during this era of broadcasting. 8 wks from initial idea to 1st episode TX For my 1st Radio 4 special it was 3 yrs between initial meeting & TX date- & that was 1x30min

😶

The real worry here is that GCs will set up sites full of images of actual or supposed trans people and that violent vigilantes will use this as a hit list irrespective of whether people are actually trans or were photographed anywhere near a toilet.

😯 Ukraine surpasses Russia in trade with Germany for first time

Oh okay I thought Ukraine was dragging you idiots into ww3 as you have repeatedly said

Himes: "We've seen this movie before. Every conflict in the Middle East has its Tom Cottons who promise us mushroom clouds, and initially things look pretty good. 'Saddam Hussein is gone!'... then over time we start to learn what the cost is... the president has taken a massive, massive gamble here"

Very Cool 😎

📢 A US Army combat veteran has a few words to express his thoughts on the oath he took. 🔥

I'm pretty sure Kamala Harris wouldn't be bombing us into an illegal war right now

Being "gender critical" now seems to be understood by those who are as a kind of "get out of jail free" pass ... which, in a way, it always was - not wanting consequences for saying hateful things.

The problem with this ‘let’s weaken our commitment to the ECHR so as to fend off Farage’ plan is that when it doesn’t work, we end up with Farage *and* a weakened commitment to the ECHR at exactly the moment we need the ECHR the most.

Help with filling out EHRC consultation document! This is brilliant as helps you write your own version rather than a template letter which it is strongly suspected will be rejected by EHRC AI filter. action.goodlawproject.org/ehrc

IMPORTANT I’ve heard EHRC consultation responses will likely be outsourced to a company that will use AI to read them. So, whilst using templates is convenient and less stressful, responses must be sufficiently individual to not be considered mass produced or copies, or they won’t be counted.

The racism is off the charts with this regime.

Seems important.

A single person — Donald Trump — has released the dogs of war and done it without the consent of Congress, our allies, or even a clear explanation to the American people. Anyone who has doubted Trump’s intention to replace our democracy with a dictatorship should now be fully disabused.

tapping the sign:

I spoke with the BBC about how disinformation spreads, especially in times of conflict and political division. When people are faced with binary choices, they're more likely to share content that aligns with their identity. And the more emotional or sensational it is, the faster it spreads.

War is peace…

Checking out one of this year's 50th anniversary 'Rocky Horror Picture Show' documentaries, I am again reminded of how far we've come, in spite of the struggles of this moment, and how a single piece of art, often made on a shoestring, can help to precipitate huge cultural change. 👄

I am alarmed by how many people don’t know covid is still around and mutating

World War 3 kinda sucks, but you know, it was either this or pronouns

And these are the same snowflakes who couldn’t handle wearing a mask during the pandemic.

If you photograph people in toilets, you’re a walking red flag and the police should be coming to your door.
