For art style, I'm going to make everything monochrome/one-bit, except for the magic, which is colored. Give magic an otherworldly vibe It's oddly liberating just being able to make any placeholder art you want when you know you are far from the final product #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev #gamedev

Working on movement for the enemies. No collision yet, turning it into some sort of weird air ballet, but with head bobbing goblins. #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev #gamedev

I'm trying to do an infinite scrolling thing where the room wraps from one end to the other But because it uses verlet integration for movement, it looks like the witch is going through some limb-stretchy worm-hole The joys of #gamedev #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev

Experimenting with healing methods for the witch I settled on cackling, that seemed to be on brand #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

I added a rideable vacuum cleaner, so now the witch can use the attached motor brick as a makeshift flail against the flying goblins. Did I mention I love #gamedev? Because I love gamedev #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev

Art isn't what I'm good at, so during prototyping, while making some goblin enemies for the witch to fight, I just see where the sprite takes me 1-bit bobbleheads is a little unexpected, but does sort of mesh with the flailing limbs witch, so here I go #gamedev #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev

I want there to be limits to where the witch can fly, so the trees at the bottom make you lose control over your vertical speed and it spit you back out Maybe I'll add a 1% chance that a squirrel is launched out together with the twigs #gamedev #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev

Thanks for 400 followers, here is 400 critters going splat. It Digs Up is still 15% off for 2 more days during its launch window, please check it out if you like things going splat : s.team/a/3554000 #gamedev #gamemaker #indiedev #solodev

Working on dynamic disintegration of sprites when the object they are attached to dies, based on the direction the attack comes from. #gamedev #solodev #gamemaker #indiedev

2 days since It Digs Up launched, happy with how it has gone so far. 2 reviews, both positive. A huge thank you to everyone who has played it! If playing as a spiderbot and making things go splat in colorful ways appeals to you, please check it out: s.team/a/3554000 #indiedev #solodev #gamedev

And we are live! So please check out It Digs Up on steam, with a 15% discount during the launch week: s.team/a/3554000 #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker

Making a game about witches with guns, and modern problems require modern solutions. So one of the brooms you can ride is a robot vacuum cleaner. This looks so silly, I adore it. #indiedev #solodev #gamedev #gamemaker

Just 2 more days until launch, I'm as excited as a spiderbot who lets critters walk to their death down a mineshaft. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev #screenshotsaturday

I was testing out the witch-following camera, and I realized that the bullets that are fired go at the same speed as the broom, so it looks like they are hanging still in mid air. These silly moments is why I love #gamedev. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker

Last #WishlistWednesday before my game launches next Monday. So if you think being a spiderbot crawling on ceilings in a mineshaft with paint explosions and falling blocks sounds like a good time, check it out. store.steampowered.com/app/3554000/... #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

Unironically, one of the most difficult things to QA is to make sure that all achievements unlock when they should, without dev tools. With only 6 days before launch, I managed it. Gloating about unlocking trophies I made myself is a special kind of pride #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

When encountering enemies, you could take a risk and attack them with your drill while they shoot at you. Or just dig around and crush them with falling blocks #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

That #gamedev feeling when you finish a project, open up a new template and don't have to worry about breaking your steam build? When all bets are still off and you can experiment wildly? That feeling is good. #indiedev #solodev

One of the code optimization steps masquerading as gameplay elements is adding coyote time to blocks, i.e. a delayed fall. This gives the game a moment to calculate what and where to drop blocks and gives the player a moment to react #screenshotsaturday #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

The purpose of the shaft is so the player can come across it and try to follow it to find the exit. Once entered, zipping around it looks goofy, but in a good way? I guess the tone I'm going for isn't serious, so this is probably fine. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev #wishlistwednesday

My game has flying ghost enemies which can go through walls. That ability does not prevent them from being squashed by falling blocks. This does not make sense, but sense takes a backseat to fun. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

The levels are randomly generated and there is a 0.000056% chance that the exit gets blocked. So I added some code that checks if it is still reachable every few seconds. If not, it blows up all unbreakable blocks. With paint eruptions off course. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

As a #gamedev challenge, I wanted to make a computer vision based prototype this week, like the kinect games of old. I settled on flappybird with actual arm flaps as the controller. This was a silly idea and I regret nothing #screenshotsaturday #indiedev

I'm not adding any big features anymore during final phase before release, just things that only I notice. So when an upgrade block explodes, it will now always shower you with paint. There is no lore reason, this just makes me happy. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

For this #wishlistwednesday, I just want to share how proud I am of how the crawling on the walls and ceilings works and feels. Sometimes you just want to be a smooth spider, you know? Check it out here: store.steampowered.com/app/3554000/... #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

What is that word for when you are cleaning up your #gamedev project, but you are terrified of removing assets which might break the game? Like these random sprites of chesspieces make me wonder if I've been making a chessgame all along and just forgot it? #indiedev #solodev

Just testing out some changes to the auto-snap of the drill. It is based on priority (enemies over blocks), distance from the player, and direction you are pointing the drill at. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

It's been a while since I've done this, and the world is bleak - so we can all use a little art & creativity. What is everyone creating nowadays? Games, art, music, video, writing, anything - whether it is early, almost done, or just shipped. Feel free to include trailers, images, links - whatever.

Art isn't exactly my strong suit, so my capsule art for It Digs Up on steam library looks very minimalistic. Still, it might make the game stand out in a sea of backlog. #indiedev #solodev #gamedev

I'm 3 weeks out from releasing my game on steam, so it has just been a lot of cleanup and minor bug fixes. So for #screenshotsaturday, here is a full level of 'It Digs Up'. Lots of crawling, lots of drilling, some explosions, much paint. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

Now that 'It Digs Up' is on its way to release, the urge to prototype for my next game is increasing. The phrase that won't leave my head is 'Flailing witches on broomsticks with guns', so I'm working on skeleton kinematics in #gamemaker using verlet integration. #indiedev #solodev #gamedev

My first #wishlistwednesday where I actually have something that you can wishlist. So if you've ever dreamed of crawling around on ceilings, check it out. #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker #gamedev

Thanks for 300 followers, may your day be covered in colour #gamedev #indiedev #solodev #gamemaker
