Thank you! I plan on having the bits move with a speed proportional to the impact of the thing that kills the object. So a bigger blast will make them move faster.
For prototyping purposes, I'm keeping it slow so I can observe it it does what I want it to do.

Dividing projects up into checklists, crossing off items helps with that feeling of progress.
Also holding yourself accountable with milestones. I promised myself in november to post 3 updates per week on indie game development, which I did, and that game is going to release tomorrow.

I work as a roboticist and machine learning engineer. It helps with becoming better at programming and math, but being able to work on something less abstract like game development on the side really recharges me creatively.

At least in gamemaker, you can search for references to an asset in your code, but it will not return if you've attached the asset to another asset in the IDE, which must be searched manually (as far as I know)
So not a huge problem, but the urge to 'just leave it, nothing is broken' is quite high.
