Senator Jim Banks (R) isn’t sorry he told a fired federal worker “he probably deserved it”. He went on to say the worker was “complaining about losing a left-wing woke job in the federal government that should have never been a job to begin with”. The job was helping people with disabilities.

“Presented as an attempt to protect Jews on campus, these threats are actually part of a much wider war against American higher education, which Trump and his allies perceive as a citadel of hostile cultural power.”

Who would have guessed?

I have tariffed the penguins that are on Heard Island and which you were probably assuming did not export goods forgive me they were taking advantage of us so cunning and so cold

These are not retaliatory tariffs & the media should not use that term. They are based on US bilateral trade balance with each country. This makes no sense. A bilateral surplus is not a reflection of “cheating”. We run a surplus with Australia, not because we cheat but bc they want things we make.

HHS doctors, scientists and tobacco control staff, rare disease experts, cancer drug wizards -- all fired today or leaving in recent weeks. Yet. 🚨 At HHS, staff make up less than one percent of the overall agency budget. 🚨 www.nytimes.com/2025/04/01/h...

Because everything is about power. It doesn’t matter to this administration if basic government functions can’t be performed.

FDA’s director for the center for biological evaluation and research: “It has become clear that truth and transparency are not desired by the secretary, but rather he wishes subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”

20 years for vandalizing a Tesla dealership, a pardon for vandalizing the US Capitol.

To reiterate: We are hiring the following: 1) Prof (Chair) in Applied Micro, 2) Reader/Senior Lecture (Assoc Professor) in Applied Econ, 3) 4 Lecturers (Asst Professors), any field. Ads: www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DMK740/p... www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DMK745/s... www.jobs.ac.uk/job/DMM015/l... #EconSky

Exactly. This isn’t about #antisemitism, but about power - period. Why don’t universities like Harvard draw on their massive endowments and tell the Trump administration to go take a hike?

Thread: Obviously I'm very pleased at this recognition, but I'm sharing this for other reasons. 1st, many have the impression that people who have been successful professionally have walked a straight path - got the right degree, right 1st job, succeeded right away.

‘Kennedy wishes “subservient confirmation of his misinformation and lies.”’

If malpractice of #economics was a crime this guy would be breaking rocks in Sing Sing.

👏👏👏!!

100% what @egolberstein.bsky.social said. #AHRQ & #ASPE perform very different & important roles at #HHS. ASPE is more inward facing - doing research & analysis for HHS policy & decision making. AHRQ gathers key data on the #healthcare system, performs its own research & supports external research.

100% what @yair-rosenberg.bsky.social says. As he says, fighting #antisemitism is a pretext for attacking political enemies by an administration that tolerates and uses antisemitism on the right to further their own political agenda. This isn’t about helping Jews.
