Things I can't empathise with: Caring about what some stranger thinks of me. If someone comes up to me telling me what some stranger thinks or says about me, I'm going to ask why they are telling me. If someone is inconsequential to my life, why would I care what their opinion is of me? Simple.

"island" actually comes from Old English "īeġland". "īeġ" means "water" and is cognate with Latin "aqua". As the language changed the "g" became silent and we were left with "iland" but then someone mistakenly added an s thinking it was related to "isle". English spelling is a mess
