It was a good launch for me, now slowed to a crawl. But I don’t know how these danged media things work, I just draw dumb pictures

Quite a show, that was. I did not take the chance to try the pie unfortunately

I find it more interesting than your typical hero’s journey arc

Eastern storytelling has a penchant for making the hero having to own up to their actions at the end of the journey or just showing you that not everyone wins, no matter how much you’re pulling for them to succeed, flipping your expectations completely over. Lone Wolf and Cub first taught me this.

Something like, 25 years ago? I never watched all of the “friendly”original TV series yet, just the OG 80s movie adaptation and Devilman Crybaby and some of Amon. I also have the collected Go Nagai manga. Tried to watch the live action 2004 movie but it was awful.

Also I have a cheap place to crash. Everybody wins.

I’m ambidextrous but singly left-handed with writing/drawing utensils. People of my age tell me stories of being trained to be right-handed but it didn’t happen to me, and me and my smudged writing/drawing are grateful for it.

I’ve never had any lessons or formal instruction or been in a band but can play music by ear.

I was obsessed with Robotech in high school. The Macross Saga specifically. I taped it every day and it was all I would talk about. My girlfriend at the time nearly broke up with me over it

Despite knowing about it since it first aired, being a David Lynch movie fan, AND having the Log lady herself visit a class I had in art school (with her log), I only finally watched the original Twin Peaks last year.

I saw Spinal Tap live in concert. My friend Dave got tickets for free somehow. It was a decent sized venue and there was only maybe 30 people there tops, including us, which was a little sad but also wildly appropriate

In my early teens, I used to actively watch satanic-panic style Christian shows just to know which bands and records I needed to get into or buy.

When I was 8 yrs old I was given some used records. Boston’s Don’t Look Back was one of them and I’ve been an unabashed fan ever since.

The first live concert I saw was Chuck Berry, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, and Cheap Trick. 1982. I’m that old.

I met Paul Reubens once. He was nice and unassuming, I didn’t even recognize him at first. I bummed a cigarette off him. I didn’t bring up anything about Pee Wee because I knew that would be stupid (this was before the big comeback of the character)

When I was 19, I was so into L7 that I sent them fan art and it led to me meeting them, having them convince a club to let me watch them play even though I was underage (had to sit right by the stage) and I almost got to make art for them. It didn’t work out, I was too green to handle it.

I have a bachelor’s degree in animation (CalArts ‘96) and know the mechanics well enough to make a short film but have yet to do it. Still a back burner dream though.

I once had an ‘83 Honda civic with no stereo and no heat and drove that thing for a couple of years like that. I would absolutely drive this truck around.

I can honestly only name movies that came out after it and were influenced by and tried to push their own limits based on The Thing’s pioneering effects, but nothing ever comes close to that insanity.

I have an Xbox One that I only got after that hype faded. Less and less downloadable content as the XS is making it obsolete! Fuck it, we got grass to touch anyway.

I don’t game that much because I just can’t afford the time (meaning it’s so awesome it sucks me in for hours). Esp open world RPGs. I play thru the Halo series over and over as a compromise 😹
