If you're working yourself to death, you're not living.

New evidence shows the Israel Defence Force murdered medics in Gaza. 15 paramedics & rescue workers (including UN staff) were shot “one by one” (some with hands tied behind back) & then buried in a mass grave. www.theguardian.com/world/2025/a...

Donald Trump has cancelled the $35 a month Insulin cap. Prices are expected to almost instantly go back to $1500 a month. Insulin costs $2 to make.

Just six energy companies control over 90% of the UK household energy supply market, Octopus has 23.7% supplying 12.9m households Competition is in name only and price differences are superficial. Customers are always fleeced even though people change suppliers.

Absolutely incredible turn out at MN State Capitol! #HandsOff

Solidarity with all the Americans protesting the actions of Trump and Musk. #HandsOff

Don't visit the USA. Sound Advice. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025...

If you have a Left wing Government the richest get poorer, and the poorest get richer. If that isn't happening, you don't have a Left wing Government.

'It’s time that dissenting voices were heard. I look forward to joining with others to resist this latest cruel twist of the austerity knife.'

First job of @matthew-wright.bsky.social was breaking down cardboard boxes. Mine was smashing up huge blocks of ice with an ice pick at a famous London hotel often cutting my fingers and bleeding into the ice. So famous & wealthy people may have ingested my DNA in their cocktails. #LBC @lbc.co.uk

For your weekend reading: three pieces that try to disentangle some of the clusterfuck that is #UKHE in this thread:

Wages are taxed at up to 45%, capital gains are taxed at 10% and dividends are taxed at 8.75%. The rich take most of their income in capital gains and dividends.

Concerns about consultation? No way! Universities have been so completely transparent &democratic in their governance All the sham ‘consultations’ that just to tick the HR box and which are telling staff they’re not allowed any access to data or any actual input are making the process so much worse

There are 32m small businesses in the USA

There is so much awfulness happening in the world (most of it swirling around the USA, but also the war in Sudan), you have to put up some barriers to protect your own sanity. But some things still sneak through. Today it is the deportations of innocent men by the US govt. 💔

What's the opposite of The Enlightenment? Because this is probably it.

COP30 must remove fossil fuel interests from climate negotiations

Today, UK minimum wage has increased. Worker over the age of 21 working a 35-hour week will earn £22,222 a year, £19,519 after tax & NIC. For minimum living standard, a single person needs to earn £28,000; couple with 2 children need £69,400. Millions will struggle with poverty rely on charity.

Squeeze of low/middle income families is part of a deeper malaise. Political system is captured by big business and the rich. They fund political parties; control media & industry. Govts reluctant to cut corporate welfare, tax the rich. Power of corporations/rich is cause of austerity/poverty.

Pro tip 🆘 Save yourself somewhere close to £80,000 simply by buying one of our Twat Identifier Hats rather than putting yourself through the ignominy and social suicide of purchasing a Tesla

Government to extend ban on moorland burning - closing loopholes in existing rules Great news for nature, carbon, & people who’ll be spared from acrid smoke & flooding Bad news for dukes & billionaires who own grouse moors 🎻 Here's my quote running on PA newswire: 1/ www.gov.uk/government/n...

On Thursday, April 24th, we will be hosting the first Agnes Flues Annual Memorial Lecture, an series in honour of our departed colleague focused on trade union issues, featuring Mick Lynch (RMT Secretary-general). Tickets are free and available now: www.tickettailor.com/events/uonuc...

oh. Not even our boss does that. And that's... you know... solidarity to @uniteucu.bsky.social.

What a day. I've been chasing that hour the powers-that-be stole from me yesterday. #clocksforward Drives me nuts - psychologists have the evidence, it's bad for us. HatTip @davidgeorge.bsky.social

Our branch just passed a motion in solidarity with Unite UCU. It's not just the right thing to do to treat those working for UCU with the same respect we demand from our own employers, it's a matter of maintaining the moral authority of the union itself.

How many solidari-dogs did you spot at the UEA UCU day of action?! Tag us with any we've missed! #SaveUEA #PupsOnPickets

This is VERY important. As it stands the OfS is (deliberately…?) vague, not unlike Section 28. The NUS is absolutely right to demand clarity. So should the UCU.

It's time for a Wealth Tax in the UK. Isn't it?
