yeah uhhhh this isn't going to end well

As someone skeptical about AI, I'm fully willing to acknowledge that I could be wrong + that 3-5 years from now this will be a normed aspect of our learning environments with many benefits for students. AI enthusiasts, though? It feels like many have anchored themselves permanently to this path.

very clever, many important lessons here

The enemy of my enemy fucking sucks!

Before landing at DHS, 22-year-old Fugate worked on the Trump campaign and interned at The Heritage Foundation. According to his LinkedIn, the bulk of his leadership experience comes from having served as secretary general of a Model UN club. New: @hannahallam.bsky.social @propublica.org

Would you guys watch this

Reporters: ask how many GS-15s there are working in the government that have so little experience and are like 20 years old. Can't be many. Maybe not any.

it's funny because, given that the chart is income *percentile* and not real income, this isn't actually a chart of non-college men getting worse off. it's just a chart of women catching up, ever so slightly

The beginning of cooking official data?

This seems important from Jake Sherman

The entire Green Mill complex is apparently up for sale 🚨🚨🚨 www.loopnet.com/Listing/4800...

zoomers will never understand the old joke about how men refuse to stop and ask for directions

- mexican man arrested for writing letters for threatening trump - letters were actually written by a wisconsin man whom the mexican guy was going to testify against for robbing him & slashing him with a box cutter - mexican guy still detained & facing deportation

since everyone is talking about headlines, one thing that sucks so much about them in this iteration of the internet is if they're really nuanced/very helpful a lot of people just tune it all out. if they're really catchy, they tend to elide a lot of context or don't quite describe the piece.

I've seen folks talk about how "in four years" they'll be able to get back to their planned projects and I really don't think that's going to work out. People & projects losing funding now will not be able to hit pause and come back once funding is restored. Hard-won progress & capacity will be lost

Cuts have consequences, illustrated. As seen on TV 📺

The way people are talking about the current demolition of research funding and HE legitimacy reminds me of the early days of COVID when I (and others) said it would be at least six years before any normalcy. Rage, despondency, rejection…eventually voting for a dictator just to feel alive.

okay, headline chat: a bunch of you have asked me who writes them and how they work. I’ll talk about it but the tl;dr is that it’s complicated and can vary a lot depending on the specific writer(s) and editor(s) involved.

"The official also said that the timing of the announcement -- occurring during Pride month -- was intentional." www.military.com/daily-news/2...

Joe Mansueto building a new stadium for Chicago Fire and pointedly not asking for public money, unlike every other sports team owner in the city, is a pretty epic move

The DOJ has opened an investigation against the Harvard Law Review for “discriminating against white men,” and claims it had a cooperating witness on the inside who now has gone to work for Stephen Miller, the NYT reports: www.nytimes.com/2025/06/02/u...

These testimonies reinforce exactly what I'm hearing as I go present at schools and universities about how to adapt to teaching writing in an AI world. 1. Schools and institutions embracing the technology while also requiring instructors to police academic integrity is a disaster. (cont.)

“I am sick to my stomach as I write this because I've spent 20 years developing a pedagogy that's about wrestling with big ideas through writing and discussion, and that whole project has been evaporated by for-profit corporations who built their systems on stolen work. It's demoralizing.” Yep.

The Shelby County case overall got .1% of the media coverage it merited! I remember a scrum of Congressional reporters annoyed at me for was asking Jeff Sessions about it in a scrum when I got him to say this (ultimately used by the NAACP in opposing his AG nod).

A police state but we are honestly unsure who are the police

Armed FBI agents knocked on the doors of two pub defenders at SEVEN AM, asking to talk w them, having made no earlier effort to reach out. Both PDs represented ppl detained by ICE. FBI said they “wanted to reach out before work.” Which is nakedly not true. HARASSING DEFENSE LAWYERS IS REALLY BAD.

Again, murder is legal in America if you do it with a car

Troopers in Central Florida appear to have been given direction not to wear their name tags during ICE operations.

Hell of a point here. ““The context for me is where he’s completely anonymous but willing to have that symbol out there,” Tynes said.”

uae is lost when pog isn’t riding #giro

The flood of encomiums and morality tales about Elon's turn in Washington cldn't be more predictable, vapid & sickening. If you want a story, get me the story about the crisis comms team directing this. He ran anti-constitutional blitzkrieg thru the federal government, did massive harm, violated ...

I was curious how Gabbard was approaching this. I don’t actually hate replacing dense text with better viz etc…but this is just shit you do for someone’s who’s cognitive abilities are entirely warped by tv Like, this is beyond stupid. It’s deeply worrying.

love seeing wout in this form helping a teammate win a grand tour #giro

Wout and Simon!

I didn't think Simon Yates had an attack like that in him #giro

“The Trump administration has launched a comprehensive attack on knowledge itself, a war against culture, history, and science,” @adamserwer.bsky.social writes. “If this assault is successful, it will undermine Americans’ ability to comprehend the world around us." https://theatln.tc/HxwwbaTF

NEW: The Trump administration has conceded that it improperly deported another Salvadoran man in violation of a court order — blaming a "confluence of administrative errors." The man's lawyer plans to demand his return. www.politico.com/news/2025/05...
