Happy International Women’s Day to all incredible lasses!

A pleasure to attend the Obesity APPG drop-in in Parliament today on World Obesity Day. Obesity affects millions across the United Kingdom, yet access to support remains inconsistent. We must work to change this. #obesityappg #worldobesityday

Fab to join New College Durham in Westminster today as they’d been nominated for 2 prestigious national Association of Colleges Beacon Awards in Widening Participation & ESOL. Such dedication & innovation of the NCD teams in these critical areas. Well done! 👏🏻 #CollegesWeek2025 #LoveOurColleges

So pleased to contribute to another fabulous event from National Women Against Pit Closures - ‘From Pits to Progress’, celebrating strong women in our communities & those in Trade Unions & politics. As ever, fantastic music & songs to round off a day of solidarity & hope. (Photo credit - Neil Terry)

Always glad to welcome a Secretary of State to Durham, particularly when they’re here to campaign for some our brill candidates in the upcoming local elections. Jimmy and Marion were joined by Bridget Phillipson MP on their rounds today. Thanks to everyone in Ushaw Moor who took time to speak to us.

Great to meet with VisitEngland reps to discuss tourism & statistics in the Durham & wider county. Our historic city attracts 6.5mill annual visitors. From events like the Durham Miners' Gala & Durham Regatta, to Lumiere & Fire & Ice in winter. Durham has such a unique charm & I’m proud to be MP!

We want hungry minds, not hungry bellies! We're wasting no time in rolling out free breakfast clubs & I’m pleased Esh & St Margaret’s Primary Schools are involved in the first phase!

💃🏻 CHARITY FUNDRAISER Co Durham you’re invited! When- Fri 7 March 7pm Where- New Durham & District Workmen’s Club WHY- For St Cuthbert’s Hospice💚 Enjoy an evening of music, dancing, food & drinks. All profits go direct to our beloved hospice. All welcome! ⬇️🎟️. www.tickettailor.com/events/maryk...

The start of good things to come for NHS dentistry from @labouruk.bsky.social? I’ll look forward to plans progressing. No one should live in a dental desert! 🦷🪥

As a breast cancer survivor, I’m backing NHS England’s drive to improve uptake of breast screening. Going to my screening saved my life. It might save yours too.

Great to spend national campaign weekend with some of our brill Local Election 2025 candidates, speaking to residents about @labouruk.bsky.social’s plans to make work pay! Thanks to our @labourunionsuk.bsky.social friends for their support! @unisonnorthern.bsky.social @uniteneyh.bsky.social

I've written to Wes Streeting about the state of NHS dentistry in Durham & beyond. Under the Tories, folks in my constituency were literally pulling their teeth out because they couldn't secure an NHS appt. We need to crack on with our manifesto commitments and stop the rot in NHS dentistry.

It's #HeartUnionsWeek, let’s celebrate the invaluable role trade-unions play in our society, and to recognise the work of TU reps' who stand up for workers in the workplace. I'm a lifelong trade-unionist, and I'll never stop standing up for workers rights. ❤️ #HeartUnions

What a pleasure to be invited to the official opening of Belmont Community School yesterday. Thanks to staff and students for the tour and showcase of the incredible resources and facilities young people across Durham now have access to. Truly breaking down the barriers to opportunity!

Following news reports yday re proposed changed to rail timetables in Durham, & an influx of correspondence from constituents who were rightly outraged, I have written to the Secretary of State for Transport to relay my concerns & those of rail users in Durham. I await her response with interest.

Pleased to add my name to @drrosena.bsky.social’s letter!

A year ago this month I was diagnosed with breast cancer. A year on, I'm cancer free. I'm really proud that the Labour government is taking breast cancer care seriously, transforming care and saving lives. #WorldCancerDay

Today is World Cancer Day, a day that unites people around 🌍 to raise awareness of cancer. I’m proud to work with NHS England to find ways to encourage people to attend screening appts, I’m living proof of how important those appts are. I’ll be forever grateful to our NHS for saving my life.

For the past month I've been scrutinising the Tobacco and Vapes Bill. As you can see, I'm pleased that it's through. Smoking is still the number one preventable cause of death, disability, and ill-health in Britain. The Bill will consign the harms of smoking to history. 🚭

This week is Place2Be’s #ChildrensMentalHealthWeek. The theme "Know Yourself, Grow Yourself" invites us to consider our emotions and develop self-awareness. By getting to know ourselves we can more easily cope with life's challenges. I am pleased to lend my support.

📢 Out tomorrow! Tomorrow, we'll be launching UK Poverty 2025, our flagship report giving you the most up-to-date picture of poverty's depth, geography and complexities across the UK. Stay tuned to our social channels from 8am (1/2)

Always my pleasure to catch up with @thebda.bsky.social ❤️.

I'm aware there are parts of my constituency still without power following Storm Eowyn. I know Northern Powergrid are working hard to get everyone back up & running but I’ve asked for updates for the impacted areas I'm aware of. If you're without power & are yet to report it, please call 105.

I continue to push for appropriate financial support for St Cuthbert’s Hospice. We must not see any further cuts to staffing or services.

‼️ IMPORTANT - STORM DARRAGH ⚡️ Durham - please report your power cuts ⬇️ 💻 www.northernpowergrid.com/power-cuts-map ☎️105 If Powergrid aren’t aware of disruption, they cannot plan how to best repair faults as quickly as possible for residents. Stay safe! 📧 [email protected]

Today is International Day of Disabled People. We must fight for the rights of persons with disabilities at every level of society so that they are included in all aspects of political, social, economic, and cultural life. #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs

My #AssistedDyingBill speech which was never heard 😖😢

Many people wrote to me asking that I attend the #FurFreeBritain event in Parliament this week, I was only too pleased to go & find out more. By ending the UK’s role in the fur trade, we can safeguard animals, our health, & our values & I’m proud to back the Bill for a ban on fur imports & sales.

My views ahead of the #AssistedDyingBill today. I started sending this to constituents yesterday - and will continue today due to the sheer volume of emails.

Be prepared for #StormBert ⬇️💨❄️🥶⚡️

It’s hereeeee! I ❤️ this time of year as my search for Durham’s Small Business of the Year begins - voted for by YOU! Get involved, nominations being received now. ⬇️💃🏻🏆 maryfoy.org.uk #SmallBusiness #ShopSmallShopLocal

Very grateful to local NFU members for taking the time to speak to me yesterday about aspects of the recent Budget which will impact them. Their expertise is invaluable and I'll also be meeting with farmers as part of their lobby of Parliament next Tuesday. #farmers #durham

The #RemembranceSunday service at #DurhamCathedral always feels very special & emotional. It was my pleasure to attend today & lay a wreath in honour of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice for our country. I continue to pray for a peaceful future, free from conflict & persecution. #LestWeForget
