I've known this my whole life, but it is so important right now: Read books. Reading books is the greatest thing you can do for your brain. Gets rid of the noise, makes you think differently, recreationally passes time without the depressing feeling of "where did the time go." BOOKS.

Minnesota is the self-righteous sibling of Wisconsin. We get it, you are perfect. You try carrying the weight of the country on your shoulders lmao

If I was representing Wisconsin congressional districts 1, 3, and 8, I would be a little nervous right now.

Honestly, this is strategic incompetence. They break the law and the confidently say they are right. Judges are giving them the benefit of the doubt that they just don’t know. We are all getting played.

On the days I am about to give up, this Gwendolyn Brooks poem gives me an anchor.

It’s surprising how few people know that some of the first groups targeted by the Nazis were gay & transgender people. The pink triangle, now a symbol of LGBTQ+ resilience, was originally used to mark them in concentration camps. History matters—let’s not forget.

Government employees: please download your performance reviews/personnel files. Word is that the system will be going offline tomorrow to possible amend those performance reviews for justification of firings. Source: American Federation of Govt Employees. *Please share to protect fed workers*

Okay, I want to say it again for anyone who needs to hear it right now: Yes, calling is better for getting in touch with your reps. But right now? DO IT HOWEVER YOU FEEL COMFORTABLE. I'm really concerned that the emphasis on calling right now is stopping people from getting in touch.

There’s so much horrible “breaking news” & it’s by design. It’s a tactic to wear you down & lose hope. Here are 3 things you can do today. 1. Add your representatives to your contacts. You are going to become friends 2. Call them! 3. Clean your social media feeds to separate complainers vs. doers

The salute is debatable. But I think it is rather telling when you blast those that condemn you for it but say nothing to those that celebrate you for it.

Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books! READ BANNED BOOKS #booksky

DNF-ing a book is like breaking up with someone. You are still going to give it 20 more pages knowing that it is not going to go well and regret not leaving sooner #booksky

I like being late to the party. I just read Normal People and I’m oscillating between if it was the most brilliant thing that I’ve read in a while or the most frustrating.

Deep breaths and meditation to get me through the weekend now that TikTok ban and the inauguration are happening within days of each other.

I love Jane Eyre. But I don’t like St. John. Mostly because I cannot fathom a person would consciously name their kid St. John. Then I learned it was pronounced “Sinjin”. Fricking British people.

Looking forward to Spotify Wrapped reminding me of my bad taste music every year.

Are we talking sportsball on here? Because Wisconsin is leading Oregon and I need somewhere to talk about it?

Books are inherently political. If some one is saying otherwise, ask them what they are reading right now. If they are reading at all, that is a political act itself.
