Friendly reminder that if you buy a book on Kindle, you're only paying for the rights to read, not own. If a book truly gets banned, it will be taken away from digital platforms like Kindle, nook, etc. Consider getting physical copies of banned (or other) books!

Book burning morons.
😞
Already in the process of moving off of Kindle and onto Kobo (and using Callibre), I'm excited
I thought once it was downloaded on your device it was yours forever!
For a technophile, I'm sure glad I could never get into that nonsense.
I cut back 5 hours a week on my news addiction and spent 2.5 hours twice a week for years. It’s life changing for all involved. ❤️
And thank you for making a difference ❤️
Last week they changed it to "Riveting Storytelling for All of America" because apparently storytelling>journalism now.

I ALSO have digital (Arr, Matey) copies of every album I have already purchased the rights to enjoy by owning physical copies.
Wife wants me to buy digital copies of them.
Um, no
If I have to buy through Amazon, I have no qualms about also downloading an epub from somewhere else to have a local copy. That way the authors to get paid, but I don’t surrender ownership rights.
2. Strip DRM from ebooks you buy.
3. Sideload onto your ereader.
4. Back your ebooks up.
5. Profit.
It's a bit more complicated, but it keeps your ebooks safe. Physical books take up a lot of space, and I'm not going back if I can help it.

I just do this with Kobo DRM these days. But there's help out there.
I like to stick my nose in a book (and the smell of pages).
Reading "Wool," "U.S. Grant Memoirs," and "A Tale of Two Cities."
Just read "Dune" and "The Warmth of Other Suns."

I heard of a service that will take your ebook and print the whole thing out for you on paper!
"Legal" does not always equal "just"
Check out Calibre. I've been using it for years so that I can have digital versions that can't be taken away from me
We want to pass a NEW amendment to the #Constitution to put a stop to politicians passing #bans.
#BanALLBans bans politicians from passing bans on activities that don’t harm others.
We have a petition🗽
seriously - Amazon has sold something like 50 million devices
the idea that even 1% of users care seems to me silly, but who knows ?
I didn't remove it.
Still using Overdrive to get library books.
Is that problematic in some way?
(This should also apply to anything out of copyright on Gutenberg, Archive, or similar sites already in mobi format.)
Ran across a weird one though. one publisher has bonus content only available if you
a) buy the ebook (not paper book) from them
c) read said book via their phone app.
To save space (I have an old reader) only current reads are on my Kindle.

At one time, people wanted to put warning by labels on records.

When something profound is written I buy that book in hard copy to keep so my grandchildren will know what was important to me and will learn the truth about our country.
