That's it! I'm going to bed!

Re: Updates Desperately Needed As per the email from OPM, in the previous week I performed the following: - To the left - Take it back - One hop - Right foot stomp - Left foot stomp - Cha-cha real smooth

NO KINGS is extremely effective because it’s simple, an extremely widely held belief, and gets right to the core of Trump’s assault without having to use words lots of people don’t understand

Some supposed progressives seem to forget that the purpose of government is to serve and help people. We don't owe Trump voters a relationship or forgiveness (esp. if they haven't done anything to show they deserve those things), but we cannot say government only serves *us* the righteous.

Oh this! The Democrats embracing genocide and not fighting it took away so many of the people who usually help on policy stuff. Like people are all up in arms about who everyone voted for but what really hurt them is the lack of organizers

I think part of it is his winning the general-- too many Dem electeds have pivoted to "well we need to appeal to his voters, now" and pinned their hopes on econ policies he's slow walking. Meanwhile the c3/c4s that would normally push protest are scared of martial law and loss of nonprofit status.

twitter ended up being very corrosive for expertise….not by empowering know-nothings, but rather by making specialized people self-destruct

I like that my mid-range financial decisions now include considerations like "will money be worth anything"

Just saw a thread about a guy calling into cspan saying his diabetic supplies increased from 5 dollars to 80 dollars and somebody in the comments, probably multiple people but I stopped reading, replied “FAFO” and I can’t stress enough how much you need to stop doing that shit

That part. Like y'all use your head for five seconds. Do the groups you're conflating actually have that much in common?

I take the bold stance that misogyny is extremely bad even when it’s applied to white cis straight women with federal jobs who kinda remind you of your mom.

I appreciate this response from Ed Yong on why he requests that people mask at his events. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/22/m...

the rise of the fascist nerds was anticipated by Ellen Ullman's 1995 essay "Out of Time: Reflections on the Programming Life."

Everything that's been crashing in just the past month alone has convinced me DEI wasn't just about social justice or correcting past wrongs, it was an absolute necessity b/c white men are woefully unqualified for the positions they think they're entitled to, and in turn, don't work as hard for them

You’re praying for the midterms. I’m praying nobody introduces trump to the term “tactical nuke”. We are not the same

the way this incident was covered was ultimate vindication for "they want trump to win" theory. totally buried in the final weeks of the campaign despite indicating serious, serious health and mental problems for trump

Pisses me off that we’re stardust with the gift of conscious existence and having to spend our time on all this bullshit.

This meeting should’ve been a national crisis.

Brilliant protest. Yosemite National Park workers hung an upside-down American flag — traditionally a symbol of distress or a national threat — thousands of feet off the ground on the side of El Capitan.

Bluesky's next feature should be a button to block everyone in a single thread

If you're represented by a Republican and you care about the post office, how about flyering outside your local post office. Tell folks about the administration's plan to dismantle USPS and tell them to contact their GOP reps. Include local telephone numbers on the fliers. bsky.app/profile/sylv...

I wish I had something insightful to say that would make things different, but all I can do is be honest. We’re in a bad situation, and there’s no clear way out. One thing I know for sure though is staying connected matters. I’m grateful you all are here.

Oh what like we need more Corinthian columns?

I almost forgot about that part
