You should know that a big part of 18F's work was to make sure multi-million to multi-*hundreds*-of-millions dollar contracts at fed *and* state level didn't go to shitty enterprise IT consultancies that *repeatedly* delivered tech that didn't work, was late, or didn't even do what it needed to

18F was doing exactly the type of work that DOGE claims to want – yet we were eliminated shortly after midnight. Read our letter to the American people: 18f.org

If you worked for 18F and got fired, Group together to start a consulting company. It’s just a matter of time before DOGE needs you to fix the mess they inevitably create. They will have to hire your company as a contractor to fix it. But on your terms. I’m happy to invest and/or help

Hello! I used my esoteric knowledge gleaned from my DC years to write about how Congress could EASILY defund DOGE: www.techpolicy.press/how-congress...

Gregg is a former Marine and Forest Service ranger. He's saved the lives of hikers dangling off a cliff or going through cardiac arrest, and he's bravely fought forest fires to save small rural towns. 100% of his salary is paid by WA state. Elon fired him. Share his story.

New, at Can We Still Govern: Rachael worked as a govt technologist, specializing in trauma-informed design of public services. Then the Trump admin promised to put her and other public employees "in trauma." She explains what this means. donmoynihan.substack.com/p/the-weapon...

Please stop saying it saved money until you understand the value of what was cut. They are downsizing, and if the stuff getting cut had real value, its not a saving.

Hearing DOGE is cutting off access to EIA and NREL datasets 🔌💡

@wired.com: “6 young men—all apparently between the ages of 19 and 24 who have little to no government experience are now playing critical roles in Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE)” & are heading up Musk’s hostile takeover of our government www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

Washington is full of rule-following valedictorians who were inspired by the West Wing and did Model UN and moot court and studied their heroes and who believe in using government to help people. That's nice, but you need to learn how to swing on the illiterate bullies who steal lunch money.

If you are a federal worker being offered a buyout, I would advise against taking it. Of course, this is a personal decision for everyone and it’s your choice. But these offers are a rush job. The legality is questionable and this admin does not keep to its word. They aren’t firing for a reason.

Bad Bunny was performing in the subway a few blocks away from our studio, but we felt is was more important to discuss why Sebastian Driussi didn’t report for his Austin FC medical evaluation over the life-changing experience of watching Benito sing to us at the Rockefeller subway stop. #Dedication

2024 was the most extreme year on record for the contiguous U.S., measured by NOAA's Climate Extremes Index. This measures the fraction of the country experiencing various extremes, e.g. below or much above average temps, drought, hurricanes, % of precipitation falling in extreme one-day events.

BREAKING: The curtain is finally lifting on Austin's long-planned light-rail system. ATP just released a detailed report on the planned 9.8-mile route. The Draft Environmental Impact Statement (DEIS) will be open to comment for 60 days. atptx.org/milestones/a... Story coming..

It's been another year chasing the ghosts of adobe past, present, and future. I feel grateful for all the sunny days I spent feeling the textures of earth and channeling relationships with ancestors and the living. 🧱 🌞 🤎 #earthenarchitecture #adobebrick #earthbuilder

Rest in peace to Jimmy Carter, friend of affordable housing.

Solid op-ed in #Denver @westword.com recapping the W 29th Ave bikeline debate. Mayor Johnston and Transpo Director Ford needlessly compromising and giving up an own goal against their campaign promises and stated priorities. www.westword.com/news/opinion...

“Engaging in minute litigation over every block ultimately privileges the wealthy and connected. We must not allow a handful of these residents to override infrastructure improvements that affect the health, safety, climate and quality of life of the entire city.” www.westword.com/news/opinion...

The usual suspects are out there yelling "There are 23 million government workers! Fire most of them!" No awareness that most work for local governments, and most of *them* are schoolteachers. Federal employment hasn't grown since the 1950s

“We don't right now have any information about who put them up. We do know that they're very professionally designed signs. They're very large. They're very well done. So someone went to a lot of trouble to put these large signs up.”

I didn't know Proterra filed for bankruptcy last year. I am not in the main EV bus circles, but still. This is the first article I've read about it, and importantly, what happens to transit agencies if the supplier of their most necessary infrastructure goes bankrupt. www.kut.org/transportati...
