Good thread. Agree Meloni is good at politics and the vacuum around her has helped elevate her. But this means that she is seemingly strong, bc the rest of 🇪🇺 is abominably weak. Sure she wins political points, but not sure this advances 🇮🇹 interests per se. She will just sell Europe if she has to.

Happy to share this again today for @groenlinks-pvda.bsky.social. This is a particularly bad strategy in the context of the merger. This strategy will alienate progressive voters who were skeptical of PvdA all along. After merger with GL, anti-immigrant voters will find this even less credible.
