Finally got plastered on Monday. (Project #1 2025) This is the part I'm always worst at. It looks fine from a distance, but it's got scratches and pitting, so I'll definitely need to do a skim coat. And probably a ton of sanding. And swearing. To be continued!

Friday night, so only one thing to do: put on my favorite loud music, and get down to some serious screwing! (Project #1 of 2025 continues slow but steady. Hope to also get plastered on Sunday)

A:"We're in a short hallway with stairways leading up and down" B:"Can everyone roll a Perception Check?" A:"Sorry?" B:"You don't play D&D." I heartily recommend The Lovecraft Investigations. Wonderful modern retelling of two classics. Of course start from Ep. 1 www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p...

Another treat at Grauzone Festival: ANJA HUWE (XMal Deutschland) on stage. Legend from as far back as 1980! Great energy and presence, kept us all entranced and dancing. Last picture is for comparison to early album covers. www.grauzonefestival.nl

Saturday Grauzone Festival: it wasn't clicking for me until I walked into SHILPA RAY who immediately flipped my switch The first song felt like the most frenetic madness of Nick Cave's "Dead Man In My Bed", with none of the slow bits. Highly recommend it to me friends

Off to a great start with first band of Grauzone Festival in Den Haag: ACTORS. Later tonight ZOLA JESUS and plenty of good stuff all weekend www.grauzonefestival.nl

Last night, @maddow argued this is much worse than the Saturday Night Massacre: a complete dismantling of American justice and policing. The biggest story of our lifetimes--a totalitarian takeover--is underplayed. www.washingtonpost.com/national-sec...

Friday night cocktails and board games (a stay-at-home date). Sharon has mastered a mean Corpse Reviver. And over 3 games of Quacks, we came out dead even on points!

#booksky recommendation, I am just finishing "The Fisherman" by John Langan. It is incredible almost poetic horror that uses layers of story, grief, hope, blends real and otherworldliness so well What a climax halfway thru! And then the story continues on other levels so strongly to the end!

Starting Project #1 of 2025: insulate & renovate the bijkeuken (pantry/mudroom). Step 1 is smashing off the old tiles

I'm involved in tech hiring. I've interviewed thousands of engineers. And I'd like to tell you about a disturbing trend I've seen in tech in the last 10 years 🧵

Nosferatu GOOD ....a lot more fucky than I anticipated You see his cockferatu

The vibe I bring to the party

Post a picture you took to bring some zen to the skyline

This is the first time I could ever WALK you to a tech conference. Nice way to start the morning Now at #SREdays Amsterdam, watching Ricc's keynote and looking forward to meeting old & new buddies

My wife is a #ceramicist, and today we are at Museumplein #Amsterdam with her work! Her pottery a mix of functional and sculpture! Weather is surprisingly good, stop by to say hi to us! We will be here until 17:00 (If you aren't in Amsterdam, you can see her stuff at spidertanglestudios.etsy.com)

Short: TERFs: Eat Shit and Die Mad. Long: From a stripe-wearing card-carrying elder feminist, feminism is NOTHING if not inclusive. Trans women ARE women. Trans men ARE men. Take yr MAGA-huffing sea-lioning bigotry and shove it up your ass. Debate HURTS vulnerable women & I am not here for it.

Your last saved meme is your moral philosophy

So I'm kinda thinking to start writing up my #CallOfCthulhu sessions here, but not sure it translates well to Bluesky. Feedback please: what would catch your interest most? -in game narration like a serial drama? -game reports / outcomes? -character arcs and silly things players do? -???

#CallofCthulhu Horror On The Orient Express game report: Milan 1923, La Scala. Our heroes see the Sedefkar Torso during Aida. Alfred (British butler) tries to storm the stage, Maxine (french journalist) and Furio (Italian Antifascist) rush backstage in a race with the Cultist Leader.

Trying to read a bit more, so started up on StoryGraph. Suggestions welcome! app.thestorygraph.com/profile/matt... (Benefit of this vs Goodreads: not related to Amazon)

I always miss the prompts to share cute pics, so now for no reason: my adorable cat Mila.

There is still good work to be done. Vote Curing is effective and continues for the next ~week. You just need to break through your fear of talking to strangers! I did it and it got easier after the first call. If you can spare 2 hours to doomscroll, instead invest it in a shift on the phonebank.

Logging in for 4 hours phone banking for Vote Curing via a solid . voter protection org (www.vopropros.com). Nervous but excited to help. Nota bene: this is not altruism, this is a coping mechanism to avoid doomscrolling. And a way to fight to protect my loved ones.

I registered for two shifts of this, recommend my American friends do the same! There are shifts going until end of the week, which can help win down ballot races that are close
