There's this weird thing going on where ppl like Friedman are acting like Verbeek is the next Zito. Could be proven wrong but I don't see a vision.

"Getting the bag" is rightfully more prevalent now than team loyalty, but these guys don't make it without being hyper competitive. NBA players especially get labeled selfish but no matter what, you have a chance to help win a title you're trying.

Honestly feels like I'm going insane if I pay attention to anything anymore. Luckily unplugged all day for a joint bday party for my sons. Why did I even log on just now.

Unfortunately people on the left aren't smarter. Large swathes are just as dumb as the right (especially civic understanding). They just have better intentions. That's just as easy to manipulate.

Let me guess: by losing to Chicago at the end of the 23 season, allowing the Panthers to sneak into the playoffs... I don't watch often. Is he just anti Dubas or is there a larger weird Pens fixation?

Couldn't happen to a more unlikeable player. I would normally feel bad.

Never saw it coming when they took Bob's contract.

Plus a blood transfusion of new players. I can't see them making a third final in a row (despite seeing Florida just do it).

Of all the players to show like he's Thornton or Iginla.

I've seen some ass goals from Fleury and Jarry, just nothing like that.

O'Reilly with the Blues

The only thing better is you don't have to deal with other people loudly chewing popcorn on their phones.

Hey shout out your dad for making you the man you are. (I've followed you long enough to know).

Get ready for Dubas to be replaced with friend of Mario Bergevin.

This will create another mess. It feels like things are finally stabilizing. We just got a new coach. Does Dubas last long. Holy hell you sold for a reason. It'll be another rocky transition.

Me watching a Resident Evil series overview as if I don't have every game memorized

Did you like 3? I loved it. Not as much as the first two but it wasn't the disappointment it was made out to be imo.

I'd agree if he wasn't an insufferable asshole. And the risk this turns into a circus (passive aggressive comments on Pat's show, etc.)

Rakell has to go.

It's one area of intangibles I believe in where cold black and white analytics followers lose me (and I'm big into analytics). There is such a thing as culture. Buffalo for long now and the Rangers this year prove it.

My favorite moment is still the 08 Sykora goal prediction

Yeah but talent like Panarin want to live in NY so they take take less... (Looks at his contract)... Uh
comment in response to post
It's purely just timing that one team got it together right after another and they happen to be in Florida. Properly run teams will ride waves no matter the tax law.

He's the definition of a horses ass. Arrogant like he's won the cup before.
comment in response to post
You'd think he's had several the way he carries himself.
comment in response to post
True. I wanted Fleury gone during that stretch. However I've softened because you can say that for a lot of teams. Somehow goalies figure it out sometime for a weird stretch. Bob is no longer a choker. I expect Hellebuyck to figure it out now. Skinner may change his story if the Oilers win.

Honestly they might be incomparable. At least the Sharks (and Canucks) won some damn games. The team tracking to be those two teams is Dallas if they bow out this round.

His cover is how much was Shanahan / Toronto interfering with the toughness. It's hard to say. I fear the Schenn trade is a major red flag. It only worked out because he didn't want to stay. Instead he sucked for the Jets.
comment in response to post
I agree with him AS LONG as he means tougher guys who can skate fast and play. But Florida has cornered the market on those kinds of players. My fear is he and other gma start doing the stupid tough shit to try to be a facade of Florida.
comment in response to post
Oh yeah agreed. I was talking in terms of Dubas already being hired and somehow I could make him hire a GM and not be the emperor.
comment in response to post
I think 32 thoughts hinted at that at the time. I fully expected him to be GM until the crazy Dubas fallout in Toronto. If I had video game level control I'd have Dubas as president (I really think he's a good higher level builder) with Darche as the GM.

Usually Vezina caliber goaltending helps the Jack Adams candidates. It bubbles up to GM this year.

Yep. But I don't think enough people will ever get it to even make incremental good change anymore. I won't let my pessimism stop me from voting. But I've turned into "survive within an increasingly worse environment assuming it keeps getting worse". I have no hope anymore.
comment in response to post
I'll never stop voting and fighting, but I'm increasingly pessimistic in general anything will ever get better anymore.
comment in response to post
Don't do this.

They are stuck. This is the best they can be. He maximizes them. But there's no more room for growth.
comment in response to post
Funny. My company had an internal bug tool that over time got complicated and hard to change. Every team wanted some field or exception, etc. We switched to Jira and made it even more complicated.
comment in response to post
Was there ever more revealed from that fallout? At the time I couldn't tell is Shanahan felt threatened about his plan being changed? Was Dubas posturing for more power knowing he'd get it from the Pens worse case. I figure that's it but I expected more details later from 32 thoughts or something.

Yeah have to hope for the Gartner hype cycle here. That's what's frustrating. I find AI helpful in small niches. I love having it help me write up READMEs for areas of code. By myself I'm overly verbose. But the expectation that it creates another engineer is upper MGMT gobblegook.
comment in response to post
My kids are still really young, so things could change, but I don't know if I'd even try to recommend technology/programming/software engineering. My org is constantly understaffed and we're told to use AI more.

Are they peanut butter pie level good? (Assuming you like that flavor)

Regardless if they are directly responsible for winning or losing, this decision will be judged on the outcome. Both could be ghosts but if they win it'll be about Berube not panicking. But it'll still be a dumb decision imo.

I coached *preschool* soccer at a youth center and quit because parents were yelling at me. Preschool! The center couldn't keep volunteers past one season.

Crosby against Nashville. Was it game 5? That was his "yeah you guys don't have a chance in hell beating us" statement game.
comment in response to post
There is a *chance* sticking with this group may work. See SJ and Vancouver finally making it to a final, but those teams never won it all. Even the Caps only made it past the second round once! At least they won it all that time. Overall when something isn't working running it back isn't enough.

And now it'll snowball. The refs will now no longer care about pp counts being even. They'll punish the perceived babies now until the end of the series.
