New York Post Story Shows Why Voter Impersonation Fraud Almost Never Happens electionlawblog.org?p=149702

"[The executive order] attempts to enact through executive fiat what the Trump administration seemingly believes it cannot achieve through the legislative process, through an act of Congress, namely, the SAVE Act." - Sen. Peter Welch

NEW: Farmers are dying by suicide at the third-highest rate by vocation in Utah. But after a federal program offering mental health support ran out of money, the state did not continue it. By @jessicamiller.bsky.social, with @sltrib.com

Zionist and anti-Zionist students at Columbia join forces to denounce the administration’s weaponization of Jewish suffering to justify fascist crackdowns

New confirmation of a combined database of immigrants. This is such a dangerous road to go down. Dangerous for immigrants, obviously, but perhaps less obvious is how dangerous combining personal data is for all Americans. 🧵

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

Bush v Gore - should it go away or not?

killing americorps is about as overt as you can get in saying “this administration does not give a fuck about this country or anyone in it”

The attack on Josh Shapiro and his family during the first night of Passover is chilling, tbh. Maybe it has nothing to do with them being Jewish. But we don’t know that right now. The historical echoes are bad, either way.

Philip Holsinger photographed Venezuelan deportees from the U.S., most with no apparent criminal record, as they became inmates in a notorious prison in El Salvador. #Sakot youtu.be/TG2o_W7aRZ0?...

The SAVE Act isn’t about “election integrity.” It’s about making it harder for people to vote. Republicans want more obstacles at the ballot box, even if it means blocking 69 million married women from registering just because they changed their last name. I’m voting NO on this terrible bill.

The latest piece by Jennifer Schulze (@newsjennifer.bsky.social) notes that local news outlets are documenting the public's alarm over Trump's economic recklessness. Right-wing propagandists can try to cover up the gravity of what's happening, but it won't work.

As you probably know, I work for a non-profit newsroom that investigates abuses of power with the intention of bringing about real change. We published our annual report last week, which highlights some of that change. See the Impact section for more. www.propublica.org/atpropublica...

Florida gets it

My bartender tonight

You would think a singular moron, obsessed with grievance and incapable of ever admitting error, would not be enough to destroy what was just three month ago the healthiest economy on the face of the Earth. But no, the Republican Party, replete with devoted submorons, still has his back.

President Trump can’t rewrite our election laws. His anti-voting EO is an unlawful power grab. Along w/ the SAVE Act, it’s part of a broader strategy to suppress votes. These measure aren’t about safeguarding our elections but silencing voters who’ll hold them accountable. We’ll see Trump in court.

Let's talk about the so-called Save Act. Don't let the name fool you. This bill doesn't SAVE anything - this is 100% a voter suppression bill. The House is voting on this bill on THURSDAY! Light up those phones! (202) 224-3121 #HandsOffHerVote

This is incorrect. "Signal...prevents anyone — including hackers, law enforcement or Signal itself — from accessing what is written or said in the app." Signal *only* protects texts in transit, not texts that are on the device. If hacker or law enforcement gains access to device, they can read msgs.

Trump froze shipment of millions of dollars’ worth of food to hungry Americans, including 12 truckloads slated for Maryland. What do we tell hungry families? The president is spending billions on shocking military boondoggles but feeding the hungry is “government waste.”

The book that was in production limbo for half a century. 📖

Read this thread to understand why today's executive order purporting to end "information silos" is not only illegal but also a major step toward enabling Musk and Trump to build databases of citizens' private info that can be use to harass, coerce, and suppress those who oppose the fascists.

The Constitution is built on checks and balances, and it’s unacceptable for the president to defy court orders simply because he doesn’t like them.

Trump and musk want to take away your SS and Medicaid/medicare to allow them to renew tax cuts for both them and billionaire friends

I personally think Schumer made the right decision. But he is unclear how and why on The View which is seen by millions. We need new leaders.

Utterly predictably, Putin rejects the unconditional ceasefire offered by Ukraine, sends Trump off on the errands of making the Russian invasion easier and denying Ukrainian sovereignty, while Trump claims he has accomplished something.

Looks like @law360.bsky.social has a legal tracker

I can see why the current administration thinks this is a dangerous message.

When AOC and Adam Kinzinger are both furious at Chuck Schumer, for the exact same reason, maybe you need to give up the idea this is just a backlash coming from far left activists.

For no particular reason certainly not one named Chuck Schumer and the his punk ass Senate colleagues I am again sharing this academic work showing that accommodation pushes politics to the right www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

This is some sick shit. Heritage Foundation lays out their case that slashing higher ed and gutting public K-12 will increase fertility (for certain desirable populations, of course).
