Starmer as Travis is a photoshop waiting to happen. For some reason I can picture Ed Davey in Rentaghost. Possibly in the role of Timothy Claypole or Dobbin

She spoke to me but I was slightly overcome by nerves so think I just smiled and nodded to whatever she said.

I used to have a subscription. I should have done that for this

This genius. Can you include David Warner, and Peter Cushing?

I noticed that. I don’t think it was ever explained on screen (or if it was I missed it). I’m glad that it’s back though. I’m looking forward to the spin-off and a chance for someone to do the Sea Devils properly for once

Apparently he originally wanted to do it wearing oversized comedy teeth but RTD vetoed it as he thought people wouldn’t take the character seriously. So we’re stuck with just the overacting and bad Welsh accent.

I find it bizarre when people decide the best way to deal with something is to tag everyone in rather than a quick polite DM. I’d have been grateful for the knowledge (and have now unfollowed the terf account) but I really don’t think this was the best way of alerting others.

That a fair point (and would partly explain the Cybershades). I did wonder about the mace as well.

Good morning Womble from sunny Devon. I’m OK.
Currently reading Doctor Who: Rogue by Kate Herron and Briony Redman. It is everything I love in a Who novelisation: extra scenes, footnotes, a “the changing face of DOCTOR WHO” note in the front.

I’m going to pretend that it’s a missing Colin Baker season where for some reason his companions were an alien dance troop. JNT would have loved it.

She’s a fantastic companion (with the exception of that one story in the 100 set where for some reason she’s written as a complete idiot with no understanding of how time travel works).

The Master is looking surprisingly muscular in that illustration

I don’t think I’ve read that. I’ll have to give it a look as I generally love Paul Cornell’s stuff

I like that answer. I think RTD’s mistake (for me at least) is by drawing too much attention to the inconsistencies and try to fix them. Focusing so much on canon is what got the show in trouble in the 1980s. I worry more about gaps in story/plot logic then gaps in canon

I suppose you could make the argument that the Doctor Who universe had already established there were characters like the Meddling Monk changing history whenever they felt like it (we only see them when they’re unsuccessful)

I’d love to know the design brief they were given (and weren’t they required to submit a pencil sketch to the editor to sign off on)?

I think Moffatt had already kind of done this with the idea of the crack explaining why no one remembered the Cyber King. Lawrence Miles also did it in the New Adventure novels (he doesn’t get enough credit for all the ideas he added to Doctor Who)

I think Grant Morrison has a similar idea that all Batman stories happened including the 60s TV show where the Joker just put LSD in Gotham’s water supply for a few months.

I completely understand this argument, but I kind of like the idea that everything in all Doctor Who media is canon and happened. The TV series already contradicts itself so many times anyway. The great thing about the show is you can always put the contradictions down to time travel.

I think Andrew Smith was 17 or 18 when he wrote Full Circle (although that’s nowhere near as good as Remembrance).

Dozens of people must have signed off on this promo thinking it was a good idea.

“We’ll focus on the big name guest stars though? Show them doing exciting stuff”? “Nope, we will feature every single actor in the series regardless of whether people have heard of them or not, and they’ll just stand there doing nothing. This will excite people”.
