I still think the best idea for progressive donors is to just revive every alt-weekly in the country and staff them with 10 reporters each.

If you feel like fighting back against today's House abominations, you'll find the links for action here billmckibben.substack.com/p/a-truly-da...

A VERY important point -- this bill is not final, not at all. It will now go to the Senate. If the Senate makes changes to the bill (they likely will), it will go back to the House for another vote. The House passed it last night with ONE VOTE. We can stop this. We have to.

RAW MILK TIME I was surprised to find most of the "raw milk cures ___" talking points from the last 20+ years come from one (1) raw milk dairy farmer in California. Let's get to know him!

My latest for @civileats.com “The hard-won progress over the last 30 years to rebuild most of our fisheries, from in many cases severe depletion, could very quickly be reversed if we’re not going to enforce the rules...” Andrew Rosenberg, former NOAA senior official. civileats.com/2025/05/15/w...

Holy moly! I spent a non trivial part of my professional life in the last couple of years on the Climate Smart Partnerships. I can’t defend them and their approach but this isn’t how you make public policy.

I really, truly genuinely believe this is likely the week Trump's autocratic project failed. Yes, it's tariffs, but it's also much bigger than that. Let me explain (🧵) www.ifyoucankeepit.org/p/the-autocr... @protectdemocracy.org

When so many institutions are cowering to the demands of the Trump Administration, it was refreshing to read @gracehussain.bsky.social's profile of lawyer Dãnia Davy leading workshops for farmers with titles like "What to Expect When You're Expecting Fascism" sentientmedia.org/helping-farm...

Hi, hello. In order to grasp the significance of Trump crowning himself a King, you have to understand that he is literally carrying out a plan crafted by Curtis Yarvin, a right wing extremist, to overthrow democracy and replace it with dictatorial rule by a monarch-CEO.

Those trying to understand the tariffs as economic policy are dangerously naive. No, the tariffs are a tool to collapse our democracy. A means to compel loyalty from every business that will need to petition Trump for relief. 1/ A 🧵 to explain his plan and how we fight back.

Being snatched off the street for your opinions. I'll say it again. We are deciding, right now, whether the aspirations we hold for this country are finished. Whether we're going to let these hoodlums and grifters throw what's left of the American idea into the garbage for their own profit and gain.

Do you want more injured meat processing plant workers? Because this is how you get more injured meat processing plant workers. The majority of this hard, dirty work is performed by Black and Latino immigrants. Of course the Trump regime has no problem sacrificing them www.usda.gov/about-usda/n...

This elderly man showed up to support an anti-trans bill in my home state and then, because he had to wait hours to testify, he was stuck listening to queer folks rally against it By the time it was his turn to speak, he'd changed his mind Never doubt that speaking out can change hearts and minds

Efforts to transition farms to regenerative agriculture are stalled, and the path forward is unclear. “We’re losing our window to get the farmers the money they would need to implement [regenerative] practices coming into the year.” –Zach Wolf, farmer and technical service provider
