As a professional Youth and Community worker I would agree. Over the last 15 years nearly £1.5bn cut from youth services with many of these projects and workers being the last line of defence and support before young people fell off the precipe.

I’m not sure if you’re just being naive or maybe a little obtuse. What we are talking about here is benefit debtors not just benefit claimants. We are talking about people that have provided the wrong information and therefore received an overpayment in benefits.

You sound like an apologist. As someone who was once homeless and unemployed I learnt to walk, cycle, bus and eventually drive to work. I received benefits but didn’t take more than I was entitled to and this is what we are talking about here.

It’s hardly kicking people down to suggest there are alternative ways to travel to work. We are taking about people who are not paying debts and having these measures imposed in them until they do, what would you suggest?
