Everything he does is to curry favor with his base, it doesn’t matter at all whether it’s actually important or good to do or not. It’s about paying back favors no matter what the cost. It’s tough to watch.

Let's not beat around the bush. Many men, both in our government and in the general population, do secretly seem to support much of what's going on. They have gone hard right in response to identity politics. It's not about standing up to Trump, I think many of them also want to see retribution.

I'm FB friends with several former HS classmates (graduated from a public school in rural central PA in the mid-80s) who are yuge MAGA fans. None of them had any interest in politics before 2016. Now it's almost all they post about. They follow politics as if it were WWE or a reality TV show.

I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again: an administration (and its supporters) who believe that they are not limited by the rule of law have no moral or philosophical claim to the protection of the rule of law. “The law is whatever we say it is” warrants the same in response.
