I think you should try trusting people. Let's say a friend wants to make you dinner. Do you think your friend should insist that you do something in exchange? Or do you think your friend should trust that you would want to do something for them in the future, and not necessarily only as payback?

The challenge is we assume to know what people need and often fall short of the real immediate needs, which only the individuals know. With UBI people have autonomy to take care of their basic needs, and pilots have proven it's what they focus on.

In a country like this, we should all be able to move on from the grinding anxiety of securing basic survival. We should have basic survival figured out for everybody by now

Every single test of UBI shows how it promotes wellbeing and a sense of agency. Most people work harder and better. Employers have much less power over low-wage workers, which is why they don’t want it…

I contend that it would be an absolute boon for the arts if the most talented could really concentrate on developing their talent instead of having to learn how to suck up to granting agencies.

An unconditional basic income floor is vital for this reason. It should always be there underneath everyone so that it's already there to help with any crisis, for as long as the crisis lasts. It would better enable everyone to manage crises of all shapes and sizes, individually and collectively.

I've been thinking that the 10 trillion that's been wiped off the stock market could fund UBI.
