Remember when the Dems had control of the Senate, but struggled to get stuff through because the GOP simply *threatened* to use the filibuster. And the Dems would just fold.
Maybe it's time for the Dems to do the same thing. If they have the brassies, that is.

Tesla recalled 27,000 of these things because they were falling apart. Glad to see our tax dollars aren't being used to line Musk's greedy little pockets.

1. For what? A Trump Hotel in Gaza? It is a sin. Period. This is not unlike the theft of property of Japanese Americans when they were forced into relocation camps.
2. This will create more enemies for our country.
3. It will take decades to repair the damage the Musk/Trump admin has done. If ever.

“Cowgirls” is a fun read. That it is banned in Florida means it gets a (very large) thumbs up!

Yes, but it is imperative that control of Congress gets wrested away from the MAGA/GOP in '26. Otherwise, in the 2028 lame duck, they will try to legislate away those powers from the next administration.

The problem is they (said politicians) either ARE the ones doing the ripping off or, at the very least, owe their souls to those that do.

I would join you in not watching for many reasons, but I had no plans to watch it anyway. Doing so would break my perfect streak of not watching 59 straight Super Bowls.

And, when he refuses to come back before the Senate (and you know he will refuse), what is your plan. Because just making demands and doing nothing will not work. It never works.
I suggest you whip out the filibuster and grind everything to a halt, just like the GOP (who NEVER worked with you) did.

The more I read about Musk/Vance/Trump administration's Project 2025 Blitzkrieg actions, the more concerned I get about the future of our country -- for my family, children, grandchildren and beyond. It will take decades to repair what they have broken. It's difficult to find comfort in... anything.

President Musk and his lacky Trump (did I say that out loud?) aren't firing them to save money. Trump might think that because he's just that stupid. Rather, I think they are firing all these people to clear the way for them to get their greedy claws on our money without all that pesky oversight.

Why are you telling us? Shouldn't you be on the Senate floor saying this to, you know, Congress?

"You don't swing at every pitch?"
They aren't swinging at ANY pitch.

How about threatening to filibuster and hold up every single thing the GOP tries to do? Appointments? Blocked. Legislation? Ground to a halt. After all, that's what they did when you had the majority. I'm sure that they, too, will cave.

His thought processes - if you could call them that - are like a 10 year old child fantasizing about "playing" war, only without the foresight, logic, and introspection.

Personally, I'm glad he didn't "drill baby drill" on Day One. All that drilling would only serve to increase profits for the oil companies who will most likely sell the oil on global markets and not use it to boost US energy supplies. All while risking damage to fragile ecosystems.

Every post or comment from MAGA-land concerning Trump's EOs hurting everyone, including (if not especially) his own supporters, is a pretzel-logic justification for his actions.
Because that's how cults function.

That said, it's not a slam dunk. The current Trump-o-phile SC may disagree and nullify Rhodes v. Chapman.
comment in response to

The Eight Amendment should prohibit this. In Rhodes v. Chapman, SC ruled conditions in prison "must not involve the wanton and unnecessary infliction of pain" and prison conditions, "may deprive inmates of the minimal civilized measure of life’s necessities" and therefore violate the 8th Amendment.

The questions are "why this?" and "why kill public schools?" My thoughts are that, in addition to sliding public funds into private, for-profit pockets, killing public education helps create a poorly-educated, less-informed and easier to manipulate population.
comment in response to

Killing public schools IS the point. The new Republican administration and legislature in my state of West Virginia are doing everything they can to push taxpayer funded vouchers and charter schools. Already one of the most economically depressed states, this will only make things worse.

What do you mean "we?" I have never missed an election since I was old enough to vote. Not one.
The problems are people who:
1. think their one vote won't matter
2. vote 3rd party candidates as "protest" votes (only to regret it later)
3. voted for Trump thinking... hell, they weren't thinking.

I agree. And, as a first measure, please please please convince your Democratic colleagues in Congress that the days of playing nice, taking the high road, and trying to appeal to Republicans and work together are done. Over. Gone. They NEVER did and neither should we. It's time to fight.

Totally agree. Also, doctors and pharmacists should instruct patients on best storage practices to extend the life of each Rx. Basically, cool, dark, and dry, which does NOT include that medicine cabinet in your hot and steamy bathroom.

I did the same thing for a final in statistics. Sorta. Memorized everything. But it was 100% pure rote memory. Taking the final was basically a raw data dump. 30 minutes after finishing the test, I couldn't tell you a thing about it. That said, I ACED the exam.
