WW1 is basically 9/11 where nearly everyone sided with the terrorist and the terrorist won in the end. From that one everything goes to shit no matter if you check the Great War sequel or the War on Terror sequel :-)

Nobody had a chance to review that thing so far as I know, so I smell a stinker beyond the stupid 80 bucks nonsense.

It's a gimmick that allows them to sell you geo-tracking as a feature. You know, you cannot sell shit, but shit in a cake labelled as chocolate might do the trick ;-)

Nix besonderes. Klassische Abzocke.

The question is what happens next when they finally start training new models instead of tweaking existing ones: Well, then the basis becomes more and more AI generated nonsense. A sand castle build on sand using it's own sand.

LLMs tokenize content and respond basically with a rough statistical approximation after a tokenized input with resulting tokens. There's no intelligence at play, it's a pattern matching and probability based generation. With a ton of pre- and post-processing to make it look smart.

As a developer I can tell you with great confidence that most stuff on the internet about my profession is absolute garbage. Just check any stackoverflow page and it's clear because more than 50% of the answers often even the question are nonsense. Shit like this is basis for those LLMs.

Yeah sure, IK, I just wanted to point out that you can't expect anything more from add-ons put on a platform that doesn't respect privacy and collects all the data by themselves. The apple ain't falling far from tree.

Sadly everything you upload to discord belongs practically to them (they have a unrestricted unlimited license on every content), so I wouldn't call it fishy, it's their business model. If they use your stuff to train AI or make fun of the nation of Germany is completely up to them.

That's a bit of a whack-a-mole situation. It's better to collect the common themes and respond them in a post over individually addressing all the issues. Otherwise you get entangled in endless repeating conversations over basics in game design and software development.

Yeah, it is the end times for so-called traditional media desperate for survival. Instead of going for quality journalism, they tried to compete in the SEO publish-first game and now they are stuck in a death spiral. Quality is down the drain and crappy AI bots steal their required search spots.

Frauen.

Wouldn't it be fair to say that everything in the orbit of those big publishers is slowly becoming irrelevant anyway? Yeah, they have still less and less big service money-maker games, but honestly, when it comes to good games in the recent years, it didn't came from them.

If it's an US platform, you can't delete stuff because pretty much all of them have in their terms that you give them unrestricted permanent rights to use uploaded content however they please. Only if you have a big label backing you with a dedicated contract it is different.

To give you an example I got once told by a former Ubisoft dev: They were instructed to change a story related game mechanic in a game because the C-suite considered it too French and their focus group studies showed that too much Frenchness has negative impacts in the British market.
comment in response to

With that I mean they dumbed them down to make it culturally adjustable for a global market, not actually caring about their customers. So you end up with this generic uninspired soup with misguided political correctness that ends up in completely unbelievable character behaviors.

Maybe I play to many European Indie games, but this narrative is pretty much in line with other games. It's just more obvious because especially in the US (and in their English speaking satellite states) there was a significant drop in writing quality over the year to make stories global accessible.

I mean wasn't that kind of obvious before?

Actually if you are considering getting out, you are years behind the curve. The company has shown bad behavior multiple times now and proven that it is not a trustworthy business partner. So just ditch them for more reliable options like Godot or Unreal (which is prob a bigger leap).

Sadly pretty much every platform is grifting now - it doesn't matter what it is, source code, writing, paintings, music... heck even memes are no longer safe. And all of this simply because the investment bubble has to pay off, even though genAI sucks hard if you take a closer look.

The journey to the end is always the reward of a game. As a former game dev I always found it infuriating that there was a tiny but very loud minority that always complained about endings. I think when a game is work, then maybe either it's not a good game or the player approaches it the wrong way.
