OK - so I need to ask... Was a single note of this in-tune? And if not, does Macca finally need to hang it up? www.youtube.com/watch?v=iu4a...

Who’s with me?

Why withdraw your country from the U.N. Human Rights Council if you're not intent on violating human rights? news.sky.com/story/trump-...

The President of the United States has just used the word "bullshit" in a press conference to mark a national tragedy involving massive loss of life. If Biden had done this, there would be (rightful) demands for him to be carted off by men in white coats.

What are the odds that my Countdown app would RANDOMLY select THESE letters in this SPECIFIC order?! (I promise this is real!)

This isn't true. We've checked. Yet it's spread like wildfire. The very definition of fake news - and the reason why giving a blue tick to anyone who'll pay for it at that other place is a horrible idea. Also, any outlet that talks about "breaking rumours" should be viewed with inherent suspicion.

Why do young Traitors contestants always use "yourself" as a form of direct address? (e.g. "I've voted for yourself, Joe.") Customer service people seem to think it's deferential - e.g. "Yes, Mr Preston - we can sort that for yourself." It's just wrong.

An asinine question on a so-called current affairs programme.

The slo-mo air-kiss. My God.

Her diary was clear. Can't imagine why.

If you're making million-dollar bets about Covid, there's a strong possibility you're an appalling human being. www.huffingtonpost.co.uk/entry/sam-ha...

One day, all the girls at school who wouldn't go out with him will bow to his A.I. girlfriend.

I'd be a crap Traitor. They'd always know it was me under the cloak. ♿

DUDE... SPOILERS!!!

A racing driver whose name appears to be the result of a transcription error on a birth certificate.

The new "Match of the Day" hosts are good - but are they "brokering a ceasefire" good?

A sloe news day...

I imagine you'd put it on your lips.

That thing when you can write a proper joke into a actual news script and it doesn't feel jarring... (Kudos to @barbaraserra.bsky.social for her excellent delivery - and to @zoesqwilliams.bsky.social and Alex Deane for not groaning!)

Proof that - even if you take the same fundamental policy position as a colleague, "alien culture" is only "alien" if you CHOOSE to let it be. Steve Baker - to his credit - hasn't.

Just got my first "HOT GIRL - LINK IN BIO" follow on Bluesky. Clearly, this place isn't immune from all of the other place's awfulness.

Great letter in today's Guardian. What sort of free speech is prevented by factchecking, Zuck?

unironically Britain's greatest newspaper

There's a special place in Hell for people hitting the "Laugh" button on Facebook posts about the death of The Vivienne. .

Now, THIS is new information...

On this subject, an analysis from my @news.sky.com colleague James Matthews, who's reporting from New Orleans at the moment and briefly interviewed the police chief yesterday. He's not impressed. news.sky.com/story/did-ne...

Now it emerges the figure of 15 deaths put out last night included the attacker, so they HAD to revise it downwards. But another avoidable rake stepped on, regardless.

And that's before we get to some of the irresponsible reporting by some in the British print media last night. "I.S. flag found in attacker's truck" (fact) doesn't necessarily add up to: "It was the work of an 'I.S. terror cell'" (conjecture masquerading as fact).

Farcical comms work from the FBI and #NewOrleans cops. First, it wasn't terrorism, then it was. Then the death-toll figures they put out increased before being revised downwards today. Now, last night's assertions the attacker didn't act alone have been rescinded. If you don't know, don't say!

Spotted today on that other social media platform:: Trump fans (including at least one Congresswoman) celebrating the headline: "Judge upholds ruling that Trump raped woman"... Because they literally don't know what "upholds" means.

December 31st reminds me of one of the favourite headlines I've ever written - about how few people can remember the words to "Auld Lang Syne"... "Should All the Lyrics Be Forgot and Never Brought to Mind" Happy New Year, all!

On December 31st, how disappointed was I to discover the last three didn't fit the tune of "We Didn't Start the Fire"...

According to one of Sky's competitors, Keely Hodgkinson has been given a knighthood. ... which I suspect will be news to her.

Overton Radio vs GB News - I know who my money's on!

And here's the finished product...

I'm guest-presenting @news.sky.com's nightly one-minute bulletin on Sky Mix (Sky Channel 151 or Freeview Channel 11) - tonight at 8 and 9pm. It'd be lovely if you could tune in.
