Obviously they were never Trekkies to begin with. Woke was baked into the recipe from the beginning and anyone who says otherwise is ignorant and forgot about the kiss that broke television. Or even just the casting. IMO, Roddenberry is one of the patron saints of woke SciFi. ππΌ

Itβs definitely a laugh so you donβt cry kinda funny. Much like how PC has become an insult, even though itβs just having empathy and compassion for others. And likewise. I donβt get it either; and honestly, Iβm not sure I want to. I feel like woke and PC are exactly what Mr. Rogers raised us to be.

That makes sense; Shogun is the only one of those I am familiar with. Thank you for giving me other authors to search for.

That was my experience reading it in school as well. My classmates hated it but it changed my worldview and life in indelible ways.

I have a huge collection that lives on my dining room shelves. In case of game, of course. White Wolf was my favorite system for a looooooooong time. So many fond memories. π₯°

Yes! ππΌ That was my favorite part of the books, to be honest. She took what I formerly considered some of the dullest portions of history and managed to make me care about the characters and their problems while also learning about the past. I wish there were more historical novels of this quality.
