It’s nesting season for the Caguama (Caretta caretta) and Green (Chelonia mydas) sea turtles near us in Mexico! 🐢 💕

It's really heating up out there, folks! So please consider putting out a bowl (or a few bowls) of water for feral and community cats and local critters. The bowls we've put out have been visited by cats, 'possums, raccoons, and even a few squirrels. 🐱🐝🦝🐾 Whatever you do will be appreciated.

🚨 There’s a lot of horrific news out of Washington right now—but you might have missed this: Senate Republicans just introduced a plan to sell off 120 million acres of our public lands. Let me break down what’s in the bill and why it’s a full-scale land grab. 🧵

This is why the supposed health exceptions to these mask bans don’t work.

I go to bed tonight proud to know how many people are willing to stand up for what’s right — and how few are willing to rally for his hate. Night, all, and let us try to be good to one another — and ourselves.

Over 3.5% of the population came out today. The 3.5% rule says that “an active participation of around 3.5% of a population will ensure serious political change.” en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mass_mo...

So grateful to see so many people gathered in peaceful, joyful protest. I love the American flags waving and the camaraderie. NGL: I shed a tear. It all reminds me of Sojourner Truth bsky.app/profile/mber...

Not true. I see you're a luxury watch dealer. I'm also interested in watches. Let me show you how free and easy migration has allowed you to earn a living. 🧵

A student just said, "when you get confused, talk to your LLM.” This is the surest sign that we are in a new era.

I’m teaching a class and yesterday described Amazon’s data warehouse as “one of the 8 wonders of the world.” And the more I think about it, the more I think it’s true.

If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. —J.R.R. Tolkien

The thing that’s wild about this is that Meta *knows* these risks, and chooses to build/design this way anyway. How many consent decrees have they had? This would be the 1st risk that the Privacy Review process flagged. The only way this got out is that it was an explicit executive command.

Hey everyone, tell me something that’s good in your world. Small or large.

Please enjoy this picture of my seemingly intense but actually very chill cat.

Tonight's Strawberry Moon, and yes, this is the color that came out of the camera (the actual moon was slightly less vibrant)

Today RFK Jr took the single biggest step towards destroying childhood vaccines When @nytimes asked me in December whether RFK could kill the vaccine program - I said he’d have to remove CDCs ACIP And… that’s exactly what he just did today Not good-just like that we cannot trust CDC on vaccines

As sure as the earth turns, QuickBooks is increasing its pricing while adding no new value. (And while granting themselves the opportunity to monetize my small business’ data by sharing it with other companies).

I’m downloading Words with Friends to play with someone in the hospital. And as I do, I read the privacy policy. To opt out of the sale of personal info via, I have to submit 11 diff privacy requests, for the 11 companies under the corp umbrella. Where’s the one-click opt out required by CPRA?

The rules that Trump’s EPA wants to eliminate are projected to save more than 30,000 lives and $275 billion every year. EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin says the rollback will "put a dagger through the heart of climate-change religion" and spark a "Golden Age" for the American economy.

Lyft driver picked me up from UNC, turned out he was a medicinal chemistry post-doc in a building near mine, until his grant got cut last month. Worked on novel antivirals.

"Fun" fact: my first career job was as a technical writer for a piece of software called MRS (medical review system), designed to be run by nurses working for insurers (Travelers first, others later) as an extra review step for procedures considered "overprescribed" at the time (1994) 1/

This makes me very happy
