From my time at Meta on privacy, I can say that there was always a pressure to find a way to enable more open defaults (b/c it enables more sharing, more curation). And I’d bet they explicitly chose this open design b/c they KNOW how hard it is change defaults from more private to more open.

Woof, it’s fun to parse that.
- While demand grows = demand to show ads, not demand to see them
- We will definitely increase the # of ads shown, but will also try to improve the user experience if it’s convenient

I’ve read a lot of Nussbaum, and a lot of moral philosophy, and her take surprised me. People who turn anger into vengeance have other underlying moral defects, and that’s not a defect in the state of anger itself, which has an appropriate place in human life (that’s just straight virtue ethics).

And now, because I suspect a lot of us are in need of some piercing of the veil of normalcy, I’m gonna revive something I’ve been threatening to do for a while: organize a gathering. Might take me a bit, but flag it if you’re interested.

I got this yesterday on my paid G Suite account. As I was preparing assignments for a class I’m about to teach.
