in conclusion: criticise nintendo all you want, but be reasonable about it and try not to confuse people into thinking things that just aren't true

also, as a side note: it's really annoying how whenever i check the comment section of anything switch 2 related, there's always someone recycling some joke about pricing. like, can we stop that? 💀 just getting annoying at this point

at the end of the day, it doesn't really matter if people think the situation is worse than it is. it's just been bugging me for a long time now and i think we should be more civil about this

it's frustrating when all it really boils down to is some pricing increases and an irritating eula change

i've spoken to people who think that all games will now be £80 (not $), and that all cartridges are key cards, and i've even seen people who are unsure whether or not the switch 2 needs to be permanently connected to the internet

all of this criticism has led to people who don't know as much about the situation thinking that nintendo has suddenly gone evil when in reality they're no worse than any other console manufacturer, and in fact are late to these trends

sure, nintendo can brick your switch, but once again, they weren't the first to do it. it's upsetting, but why does nintendo in particular seem to get so much hate for this?
possibly it's cause i'm not as involved in xbox/ps communities, but i'm not sure

locking core features behind a day 1 update has also been done before on other consoles. are we just trying to find reasons to complain at this point?

i can see the issues, but this only exists for third party games too big to fit on a cartridge and nintendo has stated that they don't plan to use it for first party releases

having to download a physical game has been done on xbox and ps for years, but when nintendo introduces it, suddenly they're evil and anti-consumer???

but my main point isn't that pricing increases are actually somehow good. it's that the criticisms are blown out of proportion

no, i'm not a nintendo glazer. i'm pissed welcome tour isn't a pack-in; gamechat should be free; no new themes still hurts... 😭

however, it's not as if this is somehow the end of the world, including outside of america. sales and discounts happen, and other retailers will sell physical games below msrp. if you're smart with your shopping, you can save money

i'm kind of going on a tangent here, but my point is that the pricing increases aren't that crazy, and the americans complaining have it easiest - you're not the only ones with a poor economy, btw

here in the uk, we've gone from £50 games and the occasional £60 game to £59 games and the occasional £67 game. this is similar to american pricing increases
however, we have to pay an extra £8 for a physical copy of game. this is system is also implemented throughout europe

first of all, the complaints about $80 games seem a bit exaggerated given that most of the games AREN'T $80. plus, in america, physical games don't cost extra. essentially, you've gone from $60 games with the occasional $70 game to $70 games with the occasional $80 game. seems reasonable to me

listen, i fully understand that people are gonna be frustrated at something getting more expensive, especially at a time like this. but the criticism is getting out of control, and it's leading to people misunderstanding the situation.

yeah, calling it the worst level definitely feels like an exaggeration, but i can definitely understand why someone might have a bad experience with it

listen, i love good song representation, but if i don't find playing the level fun, i'm gonna dislike the level
(never played this level specifically, just speaking more generally)

never mind, immediately after posting this i realised that, in classic youtube fashion, they've went back to the old design without elaborating what the change was for in the first place. ig i can't complain but it annoys me that the have these little episodes for no reason
