The air purifier needs a new filter, but the store doesn’t sell the replacements anymore. While still selling the filters. Which, frankly, should be illegal.

I’m not even going to dignify that with a reaction.

Think of how much smaller the deficit would be if they simply abolished ICE.

Using food to show where you grew up (divorced family lived in two places edition):

Using food to show where I grew up:

6 liters twice distilled 42% AbV white rum, and 250 ml 60% AbV white rum. The little bubbles are from dilution and will dissipate over the next 24 hours as they air.

I also baked a Honey Whole Wheat Sandwich Loaf today. 🍯🌾🍞🍽️

This is very funny. (Pedantic Autistic chef incoming…) However, I use 2-3 fresh bay leaves from the garden whenever I cook stocks, soups, stews, and most sauces. Fresh makes a world of difference. Dried bay leaves are fine if they aren’t several years old, like most people are accustomed to.

Just a wee reminder that now is a particularly good time to order a lampshade if you're in Marlborough or Canterbury (or anywhere on the Mainland)! I'll be down soon, and have slots available right now in my work schedule for lampshades. www.thesewphist.com/product-cate...

It has just occurred to me that I don't remember the last time I replaced my bay leaves, but the current jar moved into this apartment with me and I'm just past 11 years here 😬

Three years ago today, I met the Big Dog and Sheep in Tirau Aotearoa New Zealand (Big Dog not pictured)!

Six gallons of wash is too many to run through my little pot still in one day. Future batches will be four or five gallons. I can do both the stripping and spirit runs in one day with four gallons and end up with 4 liters of finished, twice distilled alcohol.

Tomorrow I’ve got two more gallons of neutral sugar wash to distill. I can do both the stripping and spirit run, and going to turn 1 liter of finished “vodka” into limoncello.

Smells like rum and fresh baked bread in here.

2 liters of twice distilled 82% AbV rum. 🏴‍☠️⚗️

Happy Pride Month! 🏳️‍🌈 I’m a non-binary, Autistic classically trained chef, and I wrote a food aversion acceptance cookbook and guide! Built on a foundation of unconditional acceptance, to help folx learn to accommodate individual sensory needs. It’s for all ages and all levels of cooking ability.

Ended up with 5000 ml of 50% AbV rum low wines. Today is the spirit run (diluting to 40% AbV and distilling a second time). ⚗️
