How do cells switch on the actin assembly at endocytic sites? How can this on-switch evolve? Check out our new preprint! www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

If you've been dragging your feet on a screening test for whatever reason, today is a great day to make a change and take care of yourself. Even better, for people in the U Michigan health network, UM just opened a new facility in Ypsi, and they have many appointments open right now.

By absolutely no means use this app anymore. If you're in Washington, the WTA Trailblazer app is high quality. And my publisher, Mountaineers Books, has dozens of fantastic hiking trails books. Never, ever trust AI shit like this, ESPECIALLY when it comes to PNW hiking trails.

Oops, I agreed to review for an MDPI journal. Oh well, I do this for the authors and not the publishers. My job as a reviewer is to provide the author and the editor with advice on how to revise the paper to make the best contribution to the literature that it can, regardless of journal.

I’m excited to share the first publication from my lab on the unexpected strategy that MCPyV, a cancer-causing virus, uses to enter cells. This was truly a team effort and I am so grateful for each of the brilliant women who contributed to this research project. journals.plos.org/plospathogen...

www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1... @vcmentowski.bsky.social reports a direct interaction of BUB1 with the RZZ that is necessary for RZZ recruitment when CENP-E is depleted. This may complete the identification of the receptors of the RZZ required for fibrous corona assembly

My dad (George Hagenauer) is doing his giant annual comic book sale in our garage this weekend again (Sat 6/21-Sun 6/22). Come check it out! 2191 Harding Ave, Ypsilanti, 10 AM-4PM Sat&Sun #Comics #pulpart

I gave in! After students asking for it, I now made a simple figure design checklist. To help all scientists w/o graphic skills create clear, accessible, and truthful charts! -> Out in @nature Cell Biology: rdcu.be/erwl4 #DataVisualization #PhD #SciComm Thx for review @bethcimini.bsky.social + 2

Today's Bioorganic bingo 😂

🧪Hey Sciencers, We're looking to make a library of 50-100 plasmids that differ in ~60bp stretch. The differences will be designed (not random). The library will then be screened for a phenotype. What is the best way to do this? Cost is an issue.

New pre-print! Ryan Kim et al distinguish the roles of the Spindle Assembly Checkpoint as a surveillance pathway only triggered by mitotic errors vs a mitotic timer that is required in every cell division. www.biorxiv.org/content/10.1...

kind of shook by bike adoption in halifax. We are a lefty city for sure but also very rural-minded car people. I think e-bikes,safer paths and better apartment connectivity really changing stuff

I joined #NoKingsDay protests in Saginaw, Midland and Bay Counties today because America doesn’t do kings. We elect our leaders — and when they forget who they work for, we remind them.

HAPPENING NOW: A sea of protesters have gathered in Ann Arbor, Michigan for a “No Kings Day” rally against Donald Trump (Video: WXYZ-TV)

family matters dilemma: MIL is coming to visit. Hubs made the last batch of ghee and burned it, it’s ok we’re using it. I can make a ok batch so she doesn’t worry we’re living like animals or leave the bad one so she can teach us how to do it right and know she is needed.

Proud to be one of the ELAM fellows this year! Looking forward to this outstanding program! @elamprogram.bsky.social

Just in time for Father's Day: I wrote about a postdoc whose baby rejected pumped & frozen milk. His solution? Pitch a project to his PI, do a high-throughput screen for food compounds that block milk fat globule breakdown, and launch a company to develop the result. cen.acs.org/biological-c...
