If the same happened during Biden’s term - a GOP U.S. Senator asking questions, thrown to the ground and handcuffed - I have a feeling that the MSM would have had a bigger reaction than the yawn that we’ve witnessed thus far.

And I would hope that it started the minute that he was confirmed (or ideally before when it was all too predictable) by that utterly immoral and incompetent GOP majority.

Iowa is purple at heart and will start turning blue again thanks to Ernst and Reynolds.

Yeah, not that fun. The lack of pushback is utterly depressing and demoralizing. It wouldn’t take much for a reasonably prepared journalist to counter their BS.

Nosferatu for the 21st century.

Was going to say the same. The fact that Scott is not in jail and is still an elected official is an utter embarrassment and an indictment of anything coming from Florida.

That’s exactly right. Everything this second Trump term is doing is doing it in ways that will evade accountability in years to come. Criminals trying to cover their tracks.

ICE is our current administration’s SS. Not my country’s. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Schutzs...
comment in response to post
I just said, ICE is our current administration’s SS wearing slightly different uniforms. This cannot be my country.

Just following orders. Sound familiar?

Seems like an apt analogy.

Can I get that job?

“The picture of the world’s richest man killing the world’s poorest children is not a pretty one,” I greatly appreciate your generosity and good intentions but that’s putting it way too mildly Bill.

Utterly insane.

We’ll remember this when we see her at the next Nuremberg trials.

Our collective hesitancy to using words like “H*tler” and/or “N*zi” for all of this BS is way past its expiration date. We obviously can’t rely on US media. As Liz Cheney (?!) suggested, we need to rely on The Guardian, Reuters, Al Jazeera, the BBC, et al. to amplify our plight for the world’s sake

Our hesitance to use the words “Hitler” and/or “Nazi” out of some sort of politesse is way past its expired date with regard to our current government. Many here have not hesitated but our media is still way too timid. I’ve given up on them. This is it! It’s happening NOW!

There aren’t any journalists on here, right???

This guy, a (former) Hegseth loyalist is suddenly seeing the chaos resulting from his pal’s utter incompetence and chooses to shift blame to Biden polices and Clinton punchlines. Nice job as usual Politico.
comment in response to post
At least he didn’t include any journalists this time. /s

So let’s keep reminding those who did, repeatedly, ad nauseam. Puppets.

We knew that last November, sadly.

Who knew?

Nazis are here. Full stop. WTF.

They were let inside during the 2015 campaign, as was obvious to anyone with a working brain which unfortunately includes all of the GOP insiders, backers, and Congress, and all of the MSM who were just happy to go along for the ride and the f*cking clicks on their f*cking websites.

Mob boss through and through, for all the world to see. Not even trying to hide it anymore.

He seems pretty great, and after seeing Grassley floundering in front of his constituents, I’m guardedly optimistic that Iowa could return to blue. Many red states are beginning to realize that they may have shot themselves in the foot.

I got an engineering degree at a small liberal arts college and one of the toughest (and most intriguing) courses that I took was an intro to philosophy course. The professor was obviously brilliant and it killed me that there were no definitive answers. Kudos to all philosophy majors.

Sadly, it’s taking way too long for this realization to set in. Despite the overabundance of evidence going way back to the GOP-confirmed evidence of Russian assistance in the 2016 election. It may not ever register with the MAGA extremists.

Amen. Condi and Dick Cheney were in deep and should never be forgiven for that embarrassment/utter catastrophe.

We can expect a lot more of this sort of tip-toeing going forward. Don’t jeopardize funding but… well, everything else critical for higher education.

So much for our tourism industry, I’m sure it’s a small part of our overall economy. Just a little bit more of the pain we’ll be forced to endure to get to the promised land. Oh well.

Let’s be clear, “profits” refers to the highly profitable and heavily lobbied insurance industry that would be severely crippled by any sort of Medicare-for-all or similarly supported plan that most of our allies have enjoyed for a long time. GOP favors insurance execs, not their constituents.

Well, we already learned that a lot of our fellow citizens are a little slow on the uptake. It’s a process. But I think we’ll get there, probably sooner than later with this Social Security BS.

I don’t dare.

Don’t hold your breath. He got a pass for almost all of his 30k+ lies in his first term because they were all worried about access and the clicks that would disappear without that access. And here we are.

Accurate.

Agreed. Otherwise, we’re totally screwed.

Please convince your colleagues. We’re counting on you collectively to protect us from this insane onslaught.

JFC. Seriously?

You don’t need to worry about my CT “cousin” Chris, he and AOC are doing more than the rest to fight this BS.

Thank you Stephanie. In a whirlwind of awful changes to our formal expectations of government function, the damage to USAID is the worst and the biggest embarrassment to the rest of the world. This is not who we are. (I know, “we” is subjective, but I would hope that it’s still a majority.)

Fallows is spot on in his take here. The GOP Congress always toyed with shutdowns, albeit occasionally effectively, and then we relied on the press to pillory them deservedly. Now the press is afraid. Make the GOP own it, it won’t be hard. Make them squirm.
