Is this the largest Luffy has ever made himself without using Gear 5?

With how cutthroat the industry can be, even if an ending is planned out most series will never get to show it cause most series get cut within 20 chapters. Nature of the format pressures artists to focus on really strong openings, cause that's the only way they'll get to write any ending.

Those are the partial morons. The complete morons have no idea how moronic they are.

The reason Arlong Park is a good metric is that not only is the full core cast assembled by that point, it is the first time the story really pays itself off. After that point, you have an idea of how all future sagas will happen from then on, and can decide whether you trust Oda with your time.

"Don't you see Clark, we need to topple Saddam Hussein so we can expand womens' rights and stop them from throwing gay people off of roofs!"

I could maaaybe see the justification for having Wonder Woman voting Republican pre '08, in like a Christopher Hitchens supporting the Iraq War kind of way. The myth of the 'compassionate conservative' pretty much died with McCain.

And it was basically the only time he has ever been portrayed as a conservative.

Given that Metropolis in the show is located in Kansas as well, rather than New York like it is in the comics (according to google), Kansas probably isn't even a red state in the continuity of the show. Once you plant a giant blue city in the middle of it, it no longer makes sense for it to be.

Huh. Croissant dildo. Gonna have to remember that one.

Sorry if I have been annoying, or if my words came off as disrespectful. Neither have been my intent, and I hope you find this conversation as engaging as I have.

Anyway, I am sorry for bombarding you with an essay post as a response. Just wanted to try to not be misconstrued as defending some of Nietzsche's other, dumber ideas.

This might just be a matter of semantics, but I would still consider the famously accommodating prisons of Sweden, which have a heavy emphasis on rehabilitation, to be a punishment- if a more lenient one than what the US offers.

Atonement has to be voluntary and come from a genuine place of repentance. If I force someone to atone, that is a punishment. And if we don't force people to make restitution to their victims, well, the bully just goes on bullying, and we end up in our current political situation.
comment in response to post
As far as the difference between atonement and punishment, at risk of getting into semantics I don't see a contradiction there.

a fear I'd say has been born out, imo, as most 'Christians', especially in America, are far more likely to follow Trump than any teachings of Jesus. As you say, life isn't black and white. There is no action that is 100% good for all situations. Maybe a few that are 100% bad, like sexual assault.

This is, in fact, what he actually means by 'god is dead.' Christians, in their 'will to truth' and seeking 'logos'(God) through science and philosophy, have actually resulted in a loss of faith among the masses, which he fears will be replaced by various nihilistic state religions,

The broader context would be that one of Nietzsche's core ideas is that all belief systems also hold the potential for their own negation. An idea he shares with Marx, funnily enough. Here he is obviously talking about liberalism, but he also says similar things about conservatism.
comment in response to post
And, given that Nietzsche hated nationalism, cults of personality, and insecure people, he'd absolutely despise Trump and Musk and anyone too spineless to stand up to them.
comment in response to post
The irony is that the quote is an apt criticism of the Democratic Party elite, it's just that the criminals that Biden was too scared to punish were Trump and Musk and all their cronies, not illegals, who are actually a net benefit to our society.
comment in response to post
I personally don't disagree with the cited quote. It's basically just a restatement of the paradox of tolerance. Like a society that, say, neglects to punish someone who tried to coup the government.

Feels like something cons made up to be mad at. Kinda stupid on the face of it cause... men... also have breasts? They just aren't typically as developed as women's. Like even when a trans man is lactating, that's still breastfeeding.

Yeah 9-10% sounds about right. And I'd say that's probably comparable to how well major cartoons like South Park or Spongebob perform in the US. Like maybe slightly better, but still niche.
comment in response to post
Not sure that the tv rating would 1:1 correlate with % of the population, tbh. And I'm not sure 6.7% would be considered low by American standards, but regardless, the questionable stuff is definitely super niche, and fans of it are considered weirdos, so I agree with the overall sentiment.

You're overestimating the average American.

I hope they let us play the aliens again if/when we get Xcom 3.

I’m enjoying it so far, but one complaint I would make is that it feels a lot more railroaded than Inquisition.

Anyone that wasn't convinced by all the other nazi shit he's done and said won't listen anyway.

Funny how the people already suffering are always asked to be the ones to suffer more, and never the ultra wealthy like Musk.

The weirdos that actually feel the problem with the Switch 2 is that its not the Wii U.

My bet is Pattinson, mainly because I can see Holland as Telemachus, and I could easily believe Pattinson being Tom's dad. And I think Pattinson has the range to depict the changes Odysseus goes through over 20 years.
comment in response to post
My bet is that Holland will be Telemachus, and Pattinson will be Odysseus.

I personally prefer shorter videos in multiple segments to the 2 hour behemoths video essays have become, so my vote is for 2 videos.

I genuinely don't even get the thought process. People don't care about spoilers for a non fiction book like that, even if they were the target audience. Him talking about this stuff would, if anything, make me more likely to buy the book, not less.

despite being extremists on a whole host of issues. Cause with just one axis, what else do you call someone that thinks we should eliminate the IRS, but also thinks weed and gay marriage should be legal? 2/
comment in response to post
I don't disagree. The only real reason they were called left wing was because the media used to, and still does, reduce political discourse down to a binary left right, and completely removes the y axis (libertarian vs authoritarian). In that oversimplified analysis, libertarians are centrists, 1/
comment in response to post
Part of it is that conservatives have been actively framing their culture wars around libertarian sounding arguments. For example, framing the trans women in sports debate as women's liberty vs LGBT liberty, despite that framing not making sense to anyone who has studied the issue.
comment in response to post
I don't think that was representative of ideology, though. Dems just had a very wide tent ever since Bill Clinton. Lots or folks that loved deregulation and tax cuts, but didn't hate abortion or gay people.
comment in response to post
Not anymore, but it was definitely common for tech guys to be considered center left about a decade ago. Remember, it was 'news' when Musk announced he was flipping to being a Republican.

I mean how dissimilar would they have to be that the correct response to meeting one would stop being 'run'?

I give us about 20 years before we officially split up. North east and rustbelt go to Canada. Russia takes back Alaska. Texas and California become their own nations and absorb the surrounding areas.

Fair enough. I DO see a lot of posts like that in my discover feed.
