The only reason I fucking know how you voted is because you told me! The idea behind “vote shaming” is that you’re going to tell me how you voted specifically to make a expressive statement, but I somehow am only allowed to praise you for what that statement says, it’s unfair to criticize.

Normalizing racism was a major goal of the “free speech absolutist” movement and they’ve been wildly successful at their work.

if you're surprised that trudeau is standing up to america, remember that the americans repeatedly tried to assassinate his father, fidel castro

Stop spreading and supporting the Lincoln Project, you gullible shitheads. They are republicans same as Trump. You do not, under any circumstances, have to hand it to a fascist who realizes that Hitler is a bridge too far.

One of the main creators of the Lincoln Project, Steve Schmitt, was literally responsible for the McCain campaign picking Sarah Palin, who I would honestly argue gave us the preview for Trumpism. Republican “moderates” still haven’t reckoned with the fact that their decisions led us to this point.

I'm not sure whether this weird musical theater thing they keep doing is meant to shame their opponents (who cannot be shamed) or assuage their constituents (in place of actual action), but someone needs to tell them it's not working

al green was the only democrat who did anything worth noting to oppose trump so of course he must be punished for that crime

I saw one person online claiming that Biden was extremely left on Unions, and I’m like…were you paying attention at ALL? Biden literally handed Republicans a framework to destroy unions by breaking a railroad workers strike. Literally any strike can now be declared illegal without controversy.

This actually turns gay bars into a new utopia because you'll be able to order a whiskey coke without the possibility of it tasting like drain water

The vibraphonist, composer and jazz-funk pioneer helped inspire the neo-soul movement, and his best-known song was sampled over 100 times.

from @queerchameleon.bsky.social (I think!)

Every time some elected democrat sucks off Reagan, I think about Duane.

even the cookies are fascist now smdh

got one hell of a fortune cookie tonight

use of starvation of a civilian population as a weapon of war is a completely unambiguous war crime

Told people I was avoiding travel to the US because I didn’t wanna oopsie my way to Guantanamo and they thought I was over reacting 🥴

Republicans have lost their fucking minds. Just more proof how much they hate veterans & don’t want us to have easy access to our healthcare system and other benefits we earned.

one of the lower lying maldives

Scott Alexander argues that hiring Black people and women was “decimating state capacity and purging high IQ” employees, which is like “looting and eating the seed corn,” and that makes DEI equivalent to DOGE’s widespread firings and attacks on science. Really captures what this crowd believes.

Every time I start to get less angry about shitlibs, I see some guy on here post doomer bullshit about how it’s childish to expect democrats to do anything to oppose Trump and Musk because they don’t control anything, and try to dress it up as “being a pragmatic adult”.

These men are utter cowards. Remember that.

I thought about this for a few days and I don’t think it gets it right. Defying Musk is nothing like how Tank Man stood up to the full might of martial law after a massacre occurred just blocks away. All this to say, more ppl should be in the street rn because the stakes are not as high as this.

This is where we are now: An elementary school at Fort Campbell has removed all books from its library that so much as *allude* to slavery or the civil rights movement. The wholesale erasure of history in real time.

A historic graphic of corruption. The 11 federal agencies so far targeted for firings or dismantling by Elon Musk have more than 30 ongoing investigations into his companies. (📸 Malika Khurana for NYT)

This is so incredibly, goofily stupid—a slapstick level of dumbass, self-defeating, wasteful procurement even if it’s somehow not as corrupt as it looks—but I suspect absolutely no one is going to prevent it from happening. What an embarrassment. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/12/u...

What fresh hell is this?

Yeah, this is an absolute fucking disgrace.

Every single stupid conversation I’ve had with a scientist about anticipatory obedience and historical comparisons over the last week has had me thinking about how scientists’ political incompetence is one of the major arguments for a liberal arts education Like you’re literally a tool without it

We're like a month in.

Meduza reviews new revelations by The Insider about the media producer behind some of Russia's biggest propaganda content. Meet Margarita Zhitnitskaya, whom the West has not sanctioned for some reason.

Anyone who’s had a fruit tree in their yard will tell you why this is illegal. The tree bears bad fruit, and a lot of it, and it falls off and rots. Making a city’s trees bear fruit isn’t going to feed people who need it, it’s making a bunch of work for the parks department.

"It's scary that the government has your social security number" is how dumb Musk thinks we are.

Meta illegaly downloaded 80+ terabytes of books from LibGen, Anna's Archive, and Z-library to train their AI models. In 2010, Aaron Swartz downloaded only 70 GBs of articles from JSTOR (0.0875% of Meta). Faced $1 million in fine and 35 years in jail. Took his own life in 2013.

EVERY DEMOCRAT IN THE SENATE APPROVED THIS

Dem fundraising email: "Send me to Congress to FIGHT TIRELESSLY FOR YOUR RIGHTS. Let me DO BATTLE on your behalf for democracy. Donation link here:" Dems in office: "I'm just this ittle-wittle guy. And it's my birthday. You wouldn't want me to get in trouble on my birthday, right?"
