I don't agree with all of her policies but you don't mess with Mainers. They are, overall, tough as nails, good hearted, and extremely big fans of democracy. You haven't lived until you've caucused in a small Maine town or collected signatures for a People's Referendum.

Leaving my emotional response to the side for a minute, we're all very familiar with the "cancel government assistance!" coming from people getting some kind of benefit they don't see as assistance thing? but voting to shrink the govt when your husband works for/adjacent to the govt? I just can't.
