Late last night, Trump fired the independent inspectors general of at least 12 major federal agencies. Inspectors general are tasked with rooting out fraud, abuse, and corruption. Trump wants loyalists in these positions — a key tenant of Project 2025. Keep paying attention. wapo.st/3Cptwvg

The same people having a temper tantrum over DEI just confirmed the least qualified Secretary of Defense in US history because Trump liked him on TV.

The “free speech defenders,” ladies and gentlemen.

People willing to give so much grace to a man doing a nazi salute twice who has been retweeting Holocaust deniers and agreed with an anti-Semitic conspiracy theory publicly. But they'll instantly call you a communist if you say that everyone should have free healthcare

And so it begins. Sam Kuffel, a meteorologist for CBS58, has reportedly been fired for criticizing Elon Musk’s arm gesture on her personal social media account.

Psh, how could you possibly call Elon a Nazi? He only: - Did a Sieg Heil at the inauguration - Obsesses over Western birth rates - Had grandparents in the Canadian Nazi Party - Endorsed Germany's far-right party, AfD - Replatformed avowed white nationalists You triggered libs.

Can a headline alone be eligible for a Pulitzer?

Nixon, 1968: Conspired with the South Vietnamese to sabotage LBJ's peace talks. Nixon wins. Reagan, 1980: Asked Iran not to agree to Carter's hostage deal. Reagan wins and sends Iran arms. Trump, 2024: Met with Bibi in July. Trump wins. Ceasefire allegedly reached in January.

The stock portfolios of more than two dozen members of Congress outperformed the market in 2024. This isn't due to luck or skill. Lawmakers can use privileged information to trade stocks while they’re supposed to be working for you. Make no mistake, it’s legalized corruption.

“Here is what is true: There are far, far fewer transgender Americans than the far right wants you to think there are,” says @chrislhayes.bsky.social.

Jimmy Carter in 2015 on the role of money in American politics. Spot on.

Tarlov is correct. I find this story particularly annoying because of how (perhaps deliberately) unfocused it is. These horrific fires aren't the result of LA city budgetary policy, even if $17M was truly cut. It's the fault of the capitalist climate criminals who are killing us all as they profit.

Donald Trump was found guilty of 34 charges but won't face any punishment — and will be back in the White House this month. Nearly 800 prisoners are now helping to battle Los Angeles fires, making as little as $5.80 per day. A tale of two justice systems.

So Facebook's new policies boil down to you can say LGBTQ+ people have mental illness and should be rounded up but you can't say Free Palestine

Reminder that the estimated cost of extending the Trump tax cuts is at least $5 trillion — more than twice the amount DOGE originally stated it would cut in “wasteful” government spending.

"Government by organized money is just as dangerous as Government by organized mob." —FDR, 1936

Republicans say they will cut $2.5 trillion in federal spending. The only place to get such an amount is from mandatory programs like Social Security and Medicare. Make no mistake: the GOP will pay for their next round of tax cuts for the rich by gutting your earned benefits.

The new government funding bill does NOT include: -Reimbursements for victims of food stamp theft -Restrictions on prescription drug price-gouging by middlemen -Protections against hidden fees in ticketing and hotels All thanks to the richest man in the world.

AOC: “Oh, I don’t think we’re witnessing the START of an oligarchy. I think we are fully here.” 🇺🇸

The House Ethics Committee report just alleged that Gaetz paid a 17-year-old girl, a minor, to engage in sexual activity with him. But sure, Hammer of Justice. Got it.

If the government shuts down Saturday, the richest man in the world will be largely to blame. You may not get access to services you depend on just before the holidays because an unelected billionaire shadow president wanted it that way. If this isn’t oligarchy, I don’t know what is.

NYPD perfectly illustrates in a single day that they only exist to protect the oligarchy.

Police are locking arms to protect Amazon and Jeff Bezos fortunes

It is not the Democrats’ responsibility to bail out the Republicans, who are in the majority. They wanted the gavel, they should learn how to govern with it.

“Progressives don’t seem to have much of a deep bench. Zeteo was hard-pressed to find who on the left could mount a potential 2028 presidential candidacy.” @premthakker.bsky.social reports on the pros and cons of the top 5 Democrats who could run for president in 2028: zeteo.com/p/who-will-b...

My solution to solve the problem of people who have no money is to charge them $10,000

Now THIS is a real manifesto against the evil for-profit health"care" industry. EVERY American should read this and watch Moore's FREE documentary. It's still incredibly salient almost 2 decades later open.substack.com/pub/michaelm...

Pelosi (84), who is worth over $250 million, is trying to block AOC (35) from taking over the oversight committee. Instead, she’s lobbying for Gerry Connelly (72) to get the position. Democrats need a new generation of leadership.

Manchin and Sinema consistently acted on behalf of their corporate donors during their time in the Senate. They stood in the way of protecting labor rights, voting rights, child welfare, Medicare expansion, and more. They represent everything Democrats ought not to represent.

The culture wars, the race wars, the gender wars...all smoke screens for the war they don't want you to fight. The class wars.

@sanders.senate.gov calls out the absurdity of big money's role in politics.

call me crazy but being a absurdly wealthy shouldn’t give you VIP access to the government

Why do so many feel like they've fallen behind? It's not because of immigrants, trans people, the “deep state,” or any other bogeyman trotted out by the GOP. It's because big corporations and billionaires have rigged markets and siphoned off most of the economy's gains.

Short answer: yes Longer answer: yes because you can't become a billionaire without exploiting thousands of people to accumulate that wealth (unless you inherit it) and in either case needing more than 999 million dollars while billions of humans suffer globally is profoundly sick

Amnesty International: Israel Is Committing Genocide in Gaza with Full U.S. Support

This is still hilarious, and outrageous
