Hey @merriam-webster.com, I looked up irradiation today as I read the last chapter of Frankenstein: "his eyes closed for ever, while the irradiation of a gentle smile passed away from his lips." I think Mary Shelley meant it like 'radiance' or 'radiant smile' but that definition isn't on the page.
