The public information put out by Musk on the supposed savings DOGE has found is full of misinformation, errors, and blatant lies. Please check on your family and friends working in government or government adjacent jobs because most (if not all) of them are not ok. 5/5

The agencies targeted thus far appear to be targeted because they are perceived as left leaning &/or because Musk has a financial interest in creating dysfunction within them. Please do not be fooled by the misinformation coming out of the Musk camp with claims that DOGE is finding massive fraud. 4/

It's easy enough to imagine this with the DMV: if they're understaffed, that doesn't mean you don't still need your driver's licenses and car titles processed. It only makes it more burdensome to get them done. What's going on is exactly that times a thousand and it swamps the tiny payroll savings.

One of the biggest drivers of regulatory burdens is simple delay in various dealings with agencies, not the rules themselves but the time it takes for approvals and processes to play out. Sudden and chaotic workforce reduction increases those costs, not lessen them. It's not some boon for anyone.

It should also be pointed out that health care constitutes ~17% of our GDP and it is all dependent on federal payment regulations, and this is the exact opposite of how you would run any sort of business that you would want to actually succeed (maybe that’s the point).
