world 1-1 is just a small scale demonstration of how i want tce's "sequence breaking" mechanics to work... if you go through the tutorial as normal, avie will get mad, and later on polly will back down and apologize for "helping too much"...

bowwwwap #gamedev #indiegame

aside from a few missing polly animations, the "tutorial" section of world 1-1 is basically done :) (im not sure why the recording is lagging so much... the game itself runs smoothly) #gamedev #indiedev

character animations are a lot of fun to make!!! #gamedev #indiegame

look at this super precise trick jump i found in the test level... i didn't even know this was possible until i got it on accident #gamedev #indiegame

avie's movement is basically done, i think. just needs some tweaks and polish... #gamedev #indiegame

if your game has an opportunity for the player to input text, you've got to acknowledge the possibility that they'll try to type a swear. ideally, by writing funny dialogue about it

here's a fun trick: if you dash off of a ledge, you can jump in midair during the attacking frames to regain your stamina and dash AGAIN. there will probably be lots of ways to abuse this and i cant wait #gamedev #indiegame

okay okay i need opinions: how do you feel about this method of building up speed? the idea is that you do a charge-attack while running on the ground to increase your speed by one "speed level", which persists until you stop moving, and has a max of 3. with some nice color-coded sparks #gamedev

interesting part of the tce level design process is adding space for character interactions and banter to play out in full. so, things like the length of the dialogue play a part in the level's design, in order to minimize the potential for unnatural interruptions... #gamedev

okay, now im experimenting with blocks you can break by running into them at full speed? #gamedev

mmmmmm the platforms #gamedev #indiegame

working on a sort of moving platform that rises when you stand on it, and falls when you get off??? ...it can also crush you if you aren't careful #gamedev #indiedev #indiegame

i write a lot of my drafts in my phone's notes app, and sometimes it can be really funny, because, whenever i write that "the world will end at midnight tomorrow", it gives me the option to add that to my calendar...

new pinned post? new pinned post this is my game, 'Til Countdown's End... the world is ending in 24 hours, there's no way to stop it, and a bunch of characters have to deal with that. you also get to go really fast #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev

i redid the colors of the character textboxes! they all look so clean and colorful now! full of the juice! #gamedev #indiedev

i spend a while today flying around the levels in ultrakill, taking pictures of some (un-)interesting spots that i thought were neat.... enjoy -w-; Limbo:

avie doodles #oc #art

hm. #oc #art

i see #oc #art

anyway i managed to elegantly backtrack and turn the website into more of an archive of the Somewhere universe.... check it out if you want :3 melody-sy.neocities.org

hmmm... im thinking i should scratch the idea of a full on webcomic and just go back to, like, posting my oc stuff on my main the website can stay up and be updated with whatever i do from here, but reallllly i just wanna have fun with it -u-

avie....

heres a cool thing i added to make speedruns more fun: if you run fast enough through certain cutscene triggers, they won't stop you-- and you'll get some nice abridged dialogue instead #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev

THIS IS THE BEST HOUSE SPRITE YOU'RE GONNA GET FROM ME! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!

oh wait did i ever properly show off how the running mechanics work? if you hold down shift, you'll build up speed-- and if you have enough room to keep the momentum going, you can go really fast #gamedev #indiegame #indiedev
