yellowstonegrassroots.org is a locally-created online directory and organizing tool for Yellowstone County-area groups to post events, create discussion groups for planning actions, and most-importantly get found by like-minded individuals looking for ways to make a better community.

If meritocracy ever existed in the US, it's dead now. 😢

Remember a few years back when people in Scotland kept accidentally spilling their milkshakes? Good times. We should do that more.

A federal judge extended her injunction against the National Institutes of Health, preventing it from implementing or enforcing planned cuts to federal funding that supports various medical and scientific research projects.

you’re fired. wait you’re rehired. email us a list of things you’ve done today wait forget it you’re fired again. come back your job was important. you’re fired. or hired. come in to the office. wait the office has no computers go home. we are the department of government efficiency.

Me: compensating inability to read social signals with over vigilant pattern recognition = can pick out the gays and autistics but not much else

I am marginally more impressed by John Deere. We still deserve right to repair, tho

Montanans: Call or write to your Senators this week and urge them to vote yes on HB 245, which renews Medicaid expansion in Montana. #MTPol #MTLeg

RFK Jr. thinks that a clinical trial should be done for the entire childhood vaccine schedule. Here’s why that will never happen. 1. You can’t do a randomized trial of something that we already know is safe and effective. There would have to be a placebo group that didn’t get vaxxed. Unethical.

Montanans Oppose Senate Bill 307 SB 307 strips funding from programs like Habitat Montana, state parks, trails, and nongame wildlife conservation. It would result in an estimated loss of $21 million for Habitat Montana and $12.6 million for other environmental programs over the next 2 years. #MTLeg

So the management at MetraPark announced that the grooms would not be used for immigration detention. And I'm not sure how to feel about it. On one hand, it's a way for the county commissioners to save face. On the other hand, it's a way for the county commissioners to save face.

The Yellowstone County Commissioners need to retract their letter offering to turn our MetraPark onto a detention center for people who have committed no crime. recallthemetraletter.org

Know your Rights!!!!

I just had a strictly non political friend invite me to change up our regular coffee date to a "get coffee on our way to give public comment in protest of the Metra detention center conversion plan at the county commissioners meeting" on Tuesday 🤩

Donald Trump not only wants to defund FEMA, but he also wants to condition aid to California residents who just saw their livelihoods get destroyed. That’s not leadership.

The Yellowstone county commissioners offering the Metra arena venue as an immigrant detention center makes everyone who paid taxes to the county complicit in crimes against humanity.

I'm stuck in a horrified loop that by redefining the 14th Amendment, our government has taken away the citizenship of natural born citizens. They're just noncitizens, for doing no crime, no due process, no where to go in the world. Rejected by the government that's meant to protect them.

#thisiswhyweneedart Not me keeping spare purses in my car to leave on statues wherever I go....

Anyone who calls it a "Roman salute" is a liar. As in, knowingly telling a falsehood to misdirect or mislead. You're not fooling anyone. You're a damn dirty liar.

The vertigo is GONE!! The boiling rage at the US healthcare system, invigorated. Special exception for the ENT who didn't turn me away for (1) not having a referral and (2) fit me in quickly. 🥰 The fix? A savvy YouTube search and a banger medical clinic channel. It's not right, I tell ya.

Same, buddy. Same. 😂 bsky.app/profile/goon...

President Carter deserved better from us. 😢

So it's been a sh*t week and all my motivation to write and create and do activism is just gone. Yesterday, even as my body wanted (needs) rest, I went to a community meeting that I really wanted to go to & even tho my cup has holes, they filled it anyway. Community really is key to our survival.

We want to build a more loving and peaceful world? Take the focus off one or two individuals about to arrive in Washington, and concentrate on building bonds and healing in our local communities. That is the only path to lasting compassionate change.

As an artist, I am highly suspicious of AI generated art, but not wholly against it. I don't think singularity can be achieved without creative expression. Innovation cannot exist in a vacuum, and every skill requires practice to achieve great work. Yet, am I contributing my art to AI? Hard pass.

In my mind, AI is a little like working with a large animal. The risk of serious harm may be low, but never zero. If you don't know what you're doing, you probably won't get it to do what you want. When skilled, people's lives will be changed both for better AND worse.

The deep goal of bluesky is to decentralize the social internet so that every individual controls their experience of it rather than having it be controlled by 5 random billionaires. Everyone thinks they signed up for a demuskified twitter...we actually signed an exciting and bizarre experiment.

Congratulations Senator Emma Kerr-Carpenter! dailymontanan.com/2024/12/03/y...

I love me some scientific research. Also confirms my personal bias that I am the commie liberal I am today because Mom fed me so many books as a kid. Book Bans Harm Kids - www.scientificamerican.com/article/book...

At a neighborhood meeting, the BPD presenting tips on how to reduce risk in a current trend of rising crime said that *at least* 80% of the gun violence committed in Billings was from stolen firearms. Feels made up. But if so, why aren't more people securing their guns? *TSK*

In my opinion piece for the @billingsgazette , I argue that we can’t let politics destroy Montana’s fair and impartial courts. #mtpol #mtleg #mtnews billingsgazette.com/opinion/colu...
