Ida Lewis helped her mom tend Lime Rock Lighthouse, R.I.. Ida was a great swimmer & rower who 1st rescued 4 men whose boat had capsized when she was 12. The US gov’t awarded her the Gold Lifesaving Medal for her rescue of 2 soldiers. Lewis Drive in Arlington Cemetery is named for her. (See ALT text)
