In 2013, the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) made a change allowing someone to be diagnosed with both Autism and ADHD. Despite the commonality of co-occurrence, a person could only be diagnosed with one or the other prior to 2013. Some current diagnostic prevalence changes are due to that.
