"Still, legal analysts have raised questions about the legality of sending US citizens to prisons abroad." what are we doing here. it is illegal. there is literally zero question that it is illegal. what is this 'raised questions' stuff.

So essentially the president can do anything he wants, regardless of whether or not that’s his constitutional power, say no when told otherwise, and there’s really no mechanisms in this country to stop him? The branches of government and checks and balances were all just suggestions?

*stares in chronic pain*

In 2013, the DSM (Diagnostic and Statistical Manual) made a change allowing someone to be diagnosed with both Autism and ADHD. Despite the commonality of co-occurrence, a person could only be diagnosed with one or the other prior to 2013. Some current diagnostic prevalence changes are due to that.

about 90% of culture war grievances is literally just people with nothing happening in their lives getting mad that other people are not as unhappy as they are

They keep pumping out these headlines - Charles doesn’t give a toss about Harry - like it’s a good thing. Seriously if you have an estranged child and grandchildren chased away because of your racism and they’re not a distraction then you’re a piece of shit Chuck.

All six of his sons. Imagine that. You don't even need a Matt Damon to play Private Ryan...there is no son left

Look, DOGE was never about cost savings and pretending otherwise is unhelpful. It was about getting their hooks into the government’s plumbing and, by all accounts, they’ve been incredibly successful.

Preparing ID documents, fleeing abroad, and medical backup plans. "We're going to do whatever it takes to keep her safe." Families are in survival mode as the Trump White House uses the full weight of the federal government to go after trans kids. These are their stories.

The U.S. is no longer subject to the rule of law, and Americans are discovering that living in countries that aren’t subject to the rule of law is *terrifying*.

"transition won't solve all your problems" yeah and neither will changing out that faucet that keeps leaking, but they will both solve the specific problems they are solutions to

I just attended a conference in the US. We had one speaker detained and two others turned away at the border.

I hadn’t thought of this and it helps me understand the horrible voting of Gen X. Lots of progressive people my age were lost to AIDS & drug abuse in the 80s & 90s. Basquiat & Keith Haring should still be with us, for example.

You cannot simultaneously do “industrial policy” while gutting state capacity.

There’s so many people I’d be interested in talking to I’d want to play musical chairs.

This is a bright light in the doomscrolling.

We stand by our reporting. So read it here:

So maybe this isn’t real, or it WAS real until a grownup found out about DOGE’s latest.

just absolute incoherent nonsense based on who yelled at him or got him in a room last and who knows if any of this lasts note to the business community now suffering buyer’s remorse: it’s the uncertainty that kills you, not the regulations

As damaging as Tariffs undoubtedly are this is more a judgment about trump than just economics. The way he reverses policy but still declares it a win, the deportations, the removal of all sorts of societal safety nets; it all adds up and in the eyes of these investors, makes the US unstable.

If you can please support xx

I’ve been thinking about this a lot. The reason the descent into a police state has been so rapid is because the infrastructure was already there. It’s been there since 9/11.

Their records aren’t good enough to know if the people deported were done so in error? If they can’t answer a basic question like that from their records what the hell are they recording? This is a patina of legality over a crime against humanity.

no lies detected. #civilrights

Stop using AI. Yes, even just for fun. AI is built on STOLEN images and text. That’s right: by using it, you’re stealing from your friends. There is NOT ethical generative AI. Bonus bullshit: it is HORRENOUS for the environment. (Yes, even the cutesy profile photo cartoon things.)

Hours ago, @politico.com revealed that DOGE is working with DHS on automating mass deportation efforts — likely explaining why many US citizens, green card holders, and even a Canadian (in Canada) got threatening emails last night terminating “your parole” and telling them to leave the US in 7 days.

Yet another example of how thin the band between rich and poor has gotten as it’s stretched to its limits. Rich folk really should read some history. I’d start with France or Russia.

Taking a cruise is never a good idea (scientists say cruise ships are floating environmental disasters), but definitely not now.

The degree to which right-wing operatives are gifted an unobstructed path to prestige journalism outlets is rather underdiscussed. I never tire of pointing out that CBS News once hired a Politics News Director whose entire pre-CBS professional background consisted of being a GOP political staffer

"A direct inverse correlation between fluoride exposure and IQ loss" So uhm fluoride raises one's iq?

This is worse than the White House full of Teslas in terms of trying to prop up Elons failing businesses.
