We got him. Providing an update on the manhunt momentarily. m.youtube.com/watch?v=RxT-...

There are two HUGE stories in America this wknd: 1) nationwide protests — all 50 states, not just big cities but small towns & communities — which gathered MILLIONS OF AMERICANS IN THE STREETS TO DEFEND DEMOCRACY 2) political violence is being normalized — as is violence in political situations /1

Me purposefully descending back into the primordial ooze to get a moment of peace.

I'm going to get ahead of some uninformed outrage. The second-degree murder charges against Vance Boelter are all that can be brought against him *right now.* Prosecutors can charge him with first-degree premeditated murder, but that requires a grand jury indictment, not just a criminal complaint.

Quite a thing to post after someone shot and killed a Minnesota lawmaker and injured another in a blue state.

the important thing for a 57-year-old fabulist and serial failure who claims military experience he lacks is to be a hero to the people whose approval he craves, not to actually achieve his political objective.

Why do I keep seeing posts with Republicans describing alleged assassin Vance Boelter as a left-wing Democrat? Public databases show he has been a registered Republican. (Perhaps, the "No Kings" signs were part of his plan to sneak into a protest.)

Rest in Power Melissa and Mark. May you receive justice now that your alleged killer has been apprehended.

“A man suspected of shooting two state Democratic lawmakers was arrested late Sunday after authorities tracked him into the woods in rural Minnesota, law-enforcement officials said.” lhttps://apple.news/AS5fXJ-kOQnKhnwd9lkyzcQ

The alleged assassin has been captured alive.

Bay Area reporters: - Remember: The plan to build new tech-run cities is called the Network State. The idea is based on Curtis Yarvin's infamous "patchwork" essay, which Balaji Srinivasan rebranded as the "Network State." "Freedom Cities" is propaganda branding. Don't buy it.

A company called "Frontier Valley" has declared it will build a new Network State zone on federal land in Alameda, California. Below: A "draft" presidential executive order that would have Trump declare a "national security emergency" to permit the project. PR stunt, or aggressive new phase?

Based on crowd-sourced records of No Kings Day event turnout, and extrapolating for the cities where we don't have data yet, it looks like roughly 4-6 million people protested Trump across the U.S. yesterday. That's nearly 2% of the U.S. pop! Mobilized anti-Trump resistance is exceeding 2017 levels

A huge amount of catastrophic policy right now is being driven by the fact that Stephen Miller grew up in Santa Monica and was furious when a life change pushed him into a school district where he had to share a classroom with Hispanic kids he despised. This is his revenge tour.

NEW: He didn’t like Pelosi. He didn’t like Tim Walz. He didn’t like Joe Biden. He DID like Alex Jones. He DID vote for Trump. He would be offended if anyone thought he was a democrat. wapo.st/45UNM4e

I love reading academic literature with sick burns in them. "It has been suggested that Cartesian dualism remains a dominant lens through which pain conditions are managed in clinical practice."

Not that it actually matters but the NWS forecast for DC was only a 50% chance of rain on Sat afternoon

In #JapaneseFolklore haradashi is a peculiar looking #yokai that can take on many different forms. Its defining feature is a huge belly upon which will appear silly facial features. Sometimes this strange face appears on the body of a woman and other times on a headless torso. #MythologyMonday 1/4

IF you're working in disinformation, or watch GOP politics, you should read Albert Bandura on moral disengagement. Not only was he a pioneer in social cognitive theory, he won the Order of Canada...

🧵I think it’s important to understand what disinformation like Sen. Mike Lee’s tweets are trying to do, psychologically/cognitively. In my disinfo class/Substack, I talk about how disinfo often uses “moral disengagement strategies” to manipulate people into accepting harmful conduct 1/

“I have friends everywhere.” 🙌

Genuinely excellent to see journalists on major media platforms calling this out. Here’s one summary of years of work looking at how police tactics can kick off the violence they are officially there to prevent:

“No Kings” demonstration, Ocean Beach, San Francisco

Proud of Minnesotans

SUMNER COUNTY…

Keep protesting. Keep going, everyone.

A Democratic Mayor arrested. A Democratic Congresswoman indicted. A Democratic Senator tackled and detained. A Democratic State Representative killed. A Democratic State Representative in critical condition. We can all see where this is going.

Large crowds across the country have gathered today to protest the Trump administration’s abuses of power. The “No Kings” rallies were planned for the same day as a military parade in Washington that Trump scheduled for the Army’s 250th anniversary, his 79th birthday. See more at this gift link:
