What did the hotdog vendor say when he’s pulled from the rubble? “So who ordered the two jumbos?”

I made the mistake of repeating this to my partner who had a mouthful of drink. Epic.

Indeed. But they’ve become so shielded by their privilege they can’t imagine a world where one day there won’t be an ambulance to take them to hospital or a nurse to assist with a life saving surgery.

This is this election’s “poor people don’t drive cars” and “if you want a house just get a better job”.

When the Earth quakes and the poison arrows fall from the sky and the Pillars of Heaven shake, you just look that storm right in the eye and say “ take your best shot pal, I can take it”…

“Yak shaving” is a new term for me. I call it “Spelunking” - where you’re at least four levels deep into a problem, and so far removed from the original problem you have no idea if it is even solvable.

In “The Road to Serfdom” Hayek spends a lot of time on the importance of the Rule of Law. We are experiencing a lot of pain re-learning these lessons: you can’t do business or conduct trade if anyone can just take the money and run with no recourse.

I remember the militaristic assemblies. I was too young and therefore lacked the wisdom to be distrustful of authority, but looking back now it was just so weird.

You could apply to join the Commonwealth but there are some stringent requirements: 1) It’s “colour” not “color”; 2) Cricket is preferred over baseball; 3) Tea: Under no circumstances must it be served in a paper or styrofoam cup.

I remember reading in Shirer about the German Resistance planning the country after the removal of Hitler. The first agenda item was as all they could agree on. Presumably they kept planning even as Berlin was encircled and the Allies decided the fate of Germany….

I think the “joke” is that the land will only be worth pennies because it will be completely ruined after it’s ravaged by natural disasters and pollution.

Have you heard of the book “Building a Second Brain” by Tiago Forte? I speed read it so I’m unsure of their system’s ultimate utility but I have incorporated some of the tricks mentioned. In any case, it outlines a framework for organisation so you may not need to start from scratch.
